Description: Model Bow tug- 1954/2010 U.S. Army Tug ST. 65'class. Totally modernized over last two years. 850hp @ 1,200 rpm Caterpillar with Twin Disc 540 gear 4.10-1 recently rebuilt, Propeller 72" x 60" four blade @ 300 rpm. Shaft was pulled last year, inspected, sealed and reinstalled. Captain's state room with closet, bunk room for crew containing two bunks with closet, wall to wall carpeting, full galley with flat screen TV, fridge/freezer, stove, micro wave, toaster, double sink and 1,300 gallons fresh water. 3,000 gallons of ballast water. Shower room with separate room with single sink. Engine room blasted and coated white, totally modernized, stainless steel fresh water tank, Miller welder, large hydraulic oil tank for capstan and future hydraulic requirements powered by a 15 hp motor, large new oil tank, double 7.5hp steering pumps with separate oil tank. Fire suppression is Co2- tanks in lazaret. System was just overhauled by Firex, Inc. Boat was wired to high standards by Marine Electric a very professional company based in New Bedford, MA. All motors are American made by Baldor. Generators are 40KW and a 21KW marinized Kubota- both new in October 2010 (best gensets). Emergency bilge pumps, two air compressors, two air tanks, Diesel fuel pump with 50' of hose to fuel cranes and equipment on the job. Four valves to select which fuel tank to pull from, Fuel capacity is 6,000 gallons. Very custom fuel filter containment and change area. Any spillage is automatically collected and routed to a valve that drains into a pail for proper disposal. There is no free flow of fuel into the bilge. Also we installed a catch under the stuffing box with an automatic pump. The packing leaks very little, but just enough, so this system keeps the salt water out of the bilge when steaming, also (bilges are color white). The captain walks around the engine room with his socks on.
Two large (about 12' long) Fernstrum keel coolers installed for main engine also smaller Fernstrum installed for gensets. Towing hawser is new last year. 720 feet 2 5/8" Maxie Flex with thimble one end. Electric heat and electric domestic water heater.
Pilot house contains a very comfortable captains chair, ComNav 1201 Auto Pilot, 48 mile high quality radar, GPS, Garmin chart Plotter 4208, Carlisle and Finch spot light and compass. Throttle and shift control are ZF electric with two stations.
Vessel refurbished over a two year period at the dock in Massachusetts. To include but not limited to yacht quality carpentry, complete engine room modernization to include all new systems. Every wire, pipe, motor, system etc. was removed from vessel and replaced with a modern unit. Detail to workmanship on this boat inside is breathtaking. All unnecessary steel hangers and grommets were ground down flat and the engine room 40,000 psi blasted and painted white. The vessel is a working tug that has tremendous towing power while at the same time is yacht quality throughout.
