Description

Bootlegger is a 58' Custom Carolina Sportfish, built by Bobby Sullivan of Point Harbor, NC for the original owner. She is a plank on frame boat with attractive lines and generous beam (17'6"). Her extra large cockpit features a very large transom fishbox, under gunwhale storage, livewell and insulated bait boxes. 50 amp shore power plus fresh and raw water washdown. There is also an high capacity raw water connection, capable of feeding an aux livewell for large live bait applications.

Powered by 2006 Lugger 700hp inboard engines (1100 hrs), she is fuel efficient and reliable. The interior is simple yet clean and functional with opposing L-shaped couches (rod storage beneath both), galley up, entertainment system forward. Down the steps and you will find 2 heads, 1 shower, 1 master stateroom, forward stateroom with bunks, plus upper and lower hallway bunks. Tournament style Flying Bridge with Palm Beach style helm pod and single lever controls.

Cockpit and Fishing Equipment

The cockpit is very big, Teak covering boards with hawse pipes for stern lines. Very Large transom fishbox with piano hinged lid. Fighting Chair with launcher backrest, and padded armrests (recently recovered) cutting board and rigging drawer (custom fighting chair cover included). 50 amp shore power connection is located beneath the stbd coaming, Fresh and Raw water washdowns are located beneath the port coaming, Livewell beneath the ladder. There is a high capacity washdown connection beneath the salon step that is suitable for feeding an Auxiliary Livewell if so desired.  12 volt Plugs for electric reels are under the gunwhales. Engine room access from the cockpit, two large insulated bait/tackle compartments. Generous overhang from the flybridge provides excellent afternoon shade.  Triple spreader outriggers with flybridge release, Center Rigger. The beautiful teak and tinted glass salon door is located on the std side, and is fully lockable and has a functioning side-lite half door.

Salon and Galley

Due to the generous beam of this vessel, the salon is quite large. Satin finished Teak trim for the Windows, doors and valences. Headliner with flush mounted overhead lighting. The AC/DC breaker panel is along the stbd side with remote control for the generator and breakers for all electrical items. There are built in L-shaped bench sofas on both sides of the salon. Cushions are easily removable with TONS OF ROD STORAGE under these benches. The carpeted floor is clean and headroom is ample. Controls for the Reverse Cycle HVAC system are located in the galley.

Down the extra wide stairway from the Salon, is the lover level.

GUEST HEAD

The guest head is immediately to Stbd with good counter space, sink with hot/cold faucet,  2 medicine cabinets, under counter storage, Raritan electric flushing toilet. Wallpaper on the walls with clear plexiglass below the chair rail for easy clean-up. 

MASTER STATEROOM

Along the port side is the MSR with a privacy door. There is a nightstand and double wide berth, with an overhead deck hatch. Teak cabinets are overhead for storage. Carpeted floor and good headroom.

MASTER HEAD/SHOWER

Forward is private access to the master head. Here you will find a counter with sink, medicine cabinet, Raritan electric flushing toilet, and a stand-up stall shower with curtain.

HALLWAY BUNKS

Moving towards the bow you will find upper and lower crew bunks (foam mattresses) with overhead rod racks. Reading lamps for convenience.

GUEST BUNK ROOM

The guest room is forward with a privacy door. There is a counter top along the Stbd side, with door and drawer storage cabinets (perfect spot for additional tackle). Upper and lower bunks with foam mattresses are along the port side. There is an overhead hatch, and overhead rod storage for another 30 rods. Anchor locker access is forward with access to the underside of the Windlass.

Flying Bridge

The bridge is accessed by a ladder from the stbd side of the cockpit. Along the back rail there are Gold Anodized rocket launcher style holders for 6 rods. This is tournament style helm with single lever controls, and a single ladder-back helm chair. Trolling valves are conveniently located on either side of the helm pod. Bench seating, with removable cushions, run along both sides of the bridge for passenger seating (there is storage beneath both benches). A pop-up electronics box sits just ahead of the helm pod, within easy reach of the Capt. A 3 sided helm enclosure with large U-zips for fresh air. ELECTRONICS

Engine Room & Mechanical Equipment

Engine room access is from the Cockpit. You will find the engine room to be very brightly lit, clean and tidy. Carpeted down the center with mirrored panels above the engines and along both outboard sides. This helps to makes engine room checks easy. Engine air intake vents are under the gunwhales. 

  • There is a Battery charger located behind the stbd engine that charges the Battery for the DC reel outlets in the cockpit
  • Paper towel rack conveniently located near the door
  • Dual Racor Primary fuel filters (2 for each engine), conveniently located near the engine room door.
  • Twin Disk Transmissions (model MG 5114A, 1.75:1) with Trolling Valves, new in 2006
  • Main engines are Lugger 2140A (700 hp at 2100 rpm), new in 2006
  • 75 gallon water tank located at the front of the engine room
  • Tool box located at front of engine room
  • 20 gallon water heater in front of Port engine
  • There is a bank of batteries for each engine (2 batteries in each bank), each bank has it's own 24 volt charger
  • The generator is an 8kw Onan with 4200 hrs of run time, it sits in front of the Stbd engine with it's own battery.
  • A ProMariner 40 amp battery charger hangs near the Generator, this is the charger for the 12v DC system (including the Generator Battery)
  • Reverso Oil change pump, located in front of the Stbd engine, with connections for both Main engines and the Generator

Cruise Speed and Fuel Burn info

Bootlegger holds 600 gallons of fuel (two 300 gallon aluminum tanks) under the cockpit floor. These tanks can easily be seen while going down the alley towards the Rudder Posts. The alleyway between the tanks is carpeted.

Fuel Burn: on a normal day fishing from Va Beach to the Norfolk Canyon and back, she normally burns 250 to 270 gallons of fuel). This equates to about 1/2 NMPG on a full day trip.
