Designed by Doug Peterson in the early 80’s the Baltic 42 DP is a cruiser/racer with a powerfulhull shape and rig which was designed for speed and safety.  She has a fine entry and extended transom and a full belly to increase the waterline when heeled. Baltic Yachts of Finland has been building performance yachts for over thirty years to the highest technological standards available. The build quality is well regarded and the atmosphere of Scandinavian elegance and simplicity is evident. The beautiful new teak decks are clean and all about function. This is a vessel designed to sail really well. The simple, functional well equipped deck with all the low friction ball bearing blocks and Harken upgrades provides for effortless sail handling and comfortable passages. 

All this and reduced draft for the Chesapeake Bay and Bahamas with a keel / centerboard.  Incessant is the only centerboard Baltic 42DP in the US!  Draft with board up (raised with hydraulics) is only 6’.  Draft with board down is 9.6’

The current owner bought the Baltic 42 in 1990! It is a wonderful story to tell because owning a beautiful Baltic could have a lot to do with ocean racing and cruising. In the first years there were many wins! It is so impressive. The very first race was the Inaugural  Lighthouse Race in 1991 from Cape St. Clair down the Chesapeake Bay and around Chesapeake Light and back! Incessant won First in Class! With the maiden race accomplished, Incessant did Annapolis to Bermuda in 1992 and won! First in Class and Second in Fleet! Thrilling! From 1993 to 2008 it was Annapolis to Newport Races – finishing 2nd in class in ’95 and 3rd in class in ’99. In odd years after that it was Marblehead to Halifax Races – finishing 2nd in class in ’99 and 1st in class in ’01) and in the even years 2001 to 2008 it was Newport to Bermuda Races finishing 5th in class in 2002. That was pretty much 18 years of some fine ocean sailing! What a great boat.

In between and around the racing Incessant cruised the Chesapeake Bay from Hampton Roads to the Sassafras River, explored the Coast of Maine over 20 years from the NH border to Eastport, and had adventures sailing the Coast of Nova Scotia up into the Bay of Fundy and  Cape Brenton with short handed crew aboard. They really enjoyed cruising on a vessel with performance capability.

The owner has a sail inventory that is pretty crazy and a van was used to change the boat over from racing mode to cruising mode. He tells of many trips to Newport by van to switch the boat from racing mode to cruising mode. I guess that is what it takes to win races and also enjoy cruising with your sailing partner.

Racing or cruising, Incessant is a lovely comfortable vessel with a powerful sail plan and good motion. The two stateroom layout with a real v-berth up forward and a spacious double with a split mattress and lee cloth in the aft cabin and the two heads results in a boat with very nice accommodations.

Incessant has arrived in Annapolis where she is getting all detailed up for her next owner. She is a wonderful value and completely ready for the next owner to sail away.

  • New teak deck! Replaced the teak decks in 2011 (note deck is glued, ½” thick versus the original screwed 3/8” deck
  • New Engine! Replaced the original Perkins 4-108 engine with a new Westerbeke 44B engine and Hurth transmission in 2004
  • New AC 2014. Installed a CruiseAir air conditioner with reverse cycle heat (supply ducts throughout the boat) in 2014.  A/C can run off a single Honda EU2000i Generator (included) when not connected to shore power.  Generator has an extended run external tank (included)

  • Replaced the Hot Water Heater with a Isotemp heater in 2014.

Envisioned as a performance cruiser, this Baltic 42 DP was designed and built to appeal to the whole crew. She has sporty style and substance and she also looks the part of a racer and definitely she’s an awesome racer cruiser that you can really sail. Incessant is a two stateroom aft cockpit vessel with a unique aft cabin and centerline berth in the master stateroom with its ensuite head. The forward cabin is a true Vberth with the guest head and shower. With two heads each with a faucet shower she’s comfortable when you have guests aboard. The teak joinery is yacht quality accentuated with a teak and holly sole. The navigation station is a complete ships office. It is incredibly large with a chart table to accommodate an ocean chart. The galley is tucked to starboard at the companionway entirely workable with good refrigeration and ample storage. The galley is laid out forward of the passage to the aft cabin with storage outboard in lockers with both hanging and shelving. The engine room access on four sides is supremely functional. The headroom will delight the tallest of sailors at 6’6” and the ventilation is very good with large overhead hatches, dorades, and fans.

As you enter the companionway, the well appointed galley is located to starboard with the large nav station and ships office to port. The large, sit down forward-facing, nav station has wrap around instrumentation.  The main salon has an L-shaped settee to starboard with a filler to make a wide berth. There is a straight settee berth to port. The cabinetry outboard well executed and you will be very impressed by the condition of the woodwork. The teak and holly cabin sole is in good condition also. The upholstery in natural tones create a homey, comfortable environment. There are “delivery” slip covers for the cushions to keep them nice and fresh.

The guest stateroom is up forward, with spacious true V-berth with an insert to make a full double. There is ample stowage in lockers, shelves, and drawers. Your guests will not want to leave with their private space and forward head and stall shower. The guest head forward of the bulkhead to starboard has access from either main salon as well as from the forward cabin. It has a vanity with a sink and shower faucet and the toilet.

This is a lovely sailing vessel that looks like a real performance cruiser. Cabinets have louvered doors for ventilation. The teak and holly sole is in good condition. There is great ventilation with fans, dorades, and opening ports and hatches. The upholstery is pleasing and she has a lovely ambiance and every creature comfort with AC and heat.

Engine room and mechanical space is under the cockpit with access panels on all four sides and the top!  Repowered in 2004 the Westerbeke is dearly loved!

You can tell the owner was not planning to sell the boat! The last major service in 2016 included pretty much everything you could do to insure optimal performance for the next ten years! Major services included everything…valve adjustment,  pre-heat circuit cleaning, fuel injectors, starter motor, engine compression check, heat exchanger was removed cleaned and pressure tested, transmission damper plate was replaced with a new synthetic damper, all the engine water hoses and the thermostat were replaced, there is a new engine vacuum break valve, of course the head bolts were torque to spec, the exhaust elbow was replaced, there’s a new salt water pump, the PYI Dripless shaft seal maintenance was renewed per manufacturer specs, the cutlass bearing was replaced, there is a new transmission cooler, the valve cover oil breather was removed and cleaned, the electric fuel pump was replaced and the old one which was fine is now a spare, the radiator caps for the upper expansion tank and the engine cap are now new, just in case!

See what I mean….the owner did not intend to sell the boat at this time! It just turned out this way for you!
