Description

Roughwater 41

1979

Pilothouse/Tri Cabin Cruiser

The Roughwater 41 has a strong following especially in the Pacific Northwest, known for their solid construction, being economical to run and can take anything the Northwest dishes up.

Powered with a single Perkins 6.354 -185 Hp which has been maintained to the hilt with a Log book going back over the last ten years.

2016 Marine Survey with no major deficiencies and a surveyed value of $80,000 Cdn.

The boat has been winterized and is currently tarped over but is easy to show and local.

The owner wants this sold and we put a price that is way below the surveyed value and is firm.

More pictures to come and additional information.

Overview

Designed by Ed monk Sr., the Roughwater has a semi -displacement hull, constructed of High-Strength molded one-piece Fiberglass reinforced laminate, with four mahogany longitudinal stringers. All stringers, bulkheads, shelves and interior components are fiberglass bonded to the hull for added strength.   All metal fastenings are stainless steel, with bronze fastenings used only on bronze fixtures.

The heavy duty hull is constructed by the hand lay-up method with fourteen layers of mat and 24 ounce woven roving on the bottom, tapering to nine layers at the sheer..  Exterior and interior trim is teak.

Fiberglass cloth covers all exterior cabin tops, forward and side decks and under the laid teak decking.  Cabins and under deck construction are of mahogany and mahogany marine plywood, painted white.

All hardware and either stainless steel or bronze.  There are shut off valves at every through hull fitting.  Windows and bronze port lights throughout the boat have 1/4" safety plate glass.

The bridge deck has an enclosed wheelhouse as well as an open after area for fair weather sunning.  Engine controls are all near the wheel and a complete electrical panel is just inside the companionway to the main salon.

The salon is large and airy with a complete galley in the port after corner and a large table just forward of it.  The standard boat is complete with a propane three-burner range and oven, pressure hot and cold water, a huge sink that might be better divided into two smaller sinks, and an exceptionally well-insulated icebox that can easily be converted to refrigeration(this boat has that).  Opposite the galley/dinette area is a settee that forms a double berth, and a sliding door access to the deck.

The forward stateroom is just that: a pair of six-foot v-berths, a private head compartment with sink, and a large hanging locker.  The aft cabin, reached either through a door from the salon or via a companionway  from the stern deck is quite immense.  Two double berths are located port and starboard, and a private head compartment(with both sink and stall shower) is to port.  Two hanging lockers provide enough storage for long cruise, and there are ubiquitous lockers and drawers in every imaginable cranny

Electrical and Main engine

The electrical system has been upgraded to include a heavy duty 165 amp alternator providing DC power thru a 3 phase voltage regulator to feed a Trace 2000 Watt inverter system which includes low battery cut-off, remote on/off, power monitor panel and a built in high capacity battery charger.  The inverter compartment is fan cooled.  Totally isolated batteries are four J250  6Volt deep cycle house batteries, an 8D for engine starting and a 4 D for genset starting.  The inverter provides AC power from the alternator underway or from the batteries, shore power, or the gen set.   The system has smart switches to protect circuits.  The engine room offers excellent access to the main engine and gen set plus storage space.  The main engine has approx 2500 hours of running time with consistent maintenance being done through outs its life and a log book is available..  The engine turns a 26x24 four blade prop through a heavy duty Warner hydraulic transmission 2.5 to 1 reduction,  1 1/2" stainless shaft .

The 3Kw Onan generator set has a remote panel .
