Description
Lazy Jacks – Gozzard 36
An elegant bluewater sailing yacht of exceptional craftsmanship and timeless character, Lazy Jacks was uniquely designed for a sailing couple, a small family, or even a single-hander—while still offering comfortable accommodations for occasional guests. Her inviting interior is finished in rich, furniture-grade cherry, showcasing the quality Gozzard is known for.
One of the Gozzard 36’s most distinctive features is the forward saloon, which can be quickly transformed into a fully enclosed private cabin, offering remarkable versatility for life aboard.
Lovingly and professionally maintained by the current owners, Lazy Jacks comes with complete maintenance records and a history of meticulous care.

Accommodations
The innovative Gozzard 36 open plan is a refreshing departure from the traditional sailing yacht layout. Instead of dividing the interior into 6' sections, Ted Gozzard "imagineered" a uniquely functional and flexible plan. It must be seen to be appreciated. Lazy Jacks sleeps six in three separate cabins.
The main saloon is forward and can quickly and easily convert to a private stateroom. They can be used as two wide single berths or, when located together, to form a queen-size berth. Complete privacy for this cabin is attained by closing the double-hinged door on port and by closing a vertically folding panel on the starboard athwartship bulkhead.
The L-shaped galley is to port and has a large, deep single stainless steel sink with Corian counters.
- Nova Cool LT201 12v refrigerator (compressor new in 2006) 6 cu. ft.
- Force 10 three-burner propane stove with oven and broiler
- Remote propane shutoff control (new 2020)
- Hot and cold pressure water (Flo-Jet pump under galley sink)
- Galley hand water pump
To starboard is a large dinette that seats four. It converts to an additional double berth. This table also functions as a large navigation station. There is built-in storage for charts, books, and navigational tools.
The main companionway has hinged insect screen doors and an overhead sliding pocket hatch screen.
Aft of the galley on the port side is a large head. The head features:
- Corian countertop vanity with sink, mirror, and storage
- Shower compartment and hinged seat over the head
- Shower sump pump (new 2020)
- Jabsco electric "vacuum" head
- Access to the wet locker
The master cabin is aft to starboard and features a queen-size berth, standing room for changing, a hanging locker, and storage cabinets. There is a folding panel and a bi-fold hinged door for privacy.
Her bright light, rich satin-finished interior joinery is handcrafted to furniture quality throughout in American cherry. The sole is high gloss solid teak and basswood. Hanging lockers are cedar-lined. The interior has cream Ultrasuede upholstery. (2014) The berths all have foam mattresses.
Cabin ventilation is superb. There are screens for all stainless steel opening ports, 2 large stainless steel hatches, and the companionway. Two stainless steel cowl vents on dorades, and one Nicro fan. There are three 12V cabin fans
Deck & Hull
The roomy and secure cockpit includes double drop leaf table rebuilt in 2023 (seats 10). Unique fold-down transom steps under the helmsman seat with a ladder that enables easy access from the dinghy, swimming, or the recovery of the crew from the water.
Wide side decks without obstruction, bulwarks, and prominent cabin trunk enable safe movement fore & aft. The foredeck is perfect for curling up with a good book, while the aft rake of the cabin trunk provides comfortable back support.
