Description

MOHICAN is a rare surviving example of the glamorous Manhattan Commuters, elegant express yachts that defined the lifestyle of wealthy Long Island traders in the 1920s. Built in 1929 by the renowned Consolidated Commuter Company, she once carried her owners swiftly and stylishly between Manhattan and their summer homes.

She was lovingly restored over six years by Circolo Nautico Italiano. The restoration combined meticulous craftsmanship with modern updates, ensuring both authenticity and comfort. Today, MOHICAN stands as one of the finest surviving examples of her type, offering not only a glimpse into the opulent Great Gatsby era but also a practical and luxurious yacht for Mediterranean cruising or private enjoyment.

MOHICAN is part of a distinguished classic yacht collection and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a vessel from a knowledgeable collector who has maintained her with exceptional care and expertise.

HIGHLIGHTS

Built by the renowned Consolidated Commuter Company in Silver Bay, New York, Mohican is one of the few surviving express commuters from the glamorous Great Gatsby era of the 1920s and 1930s, when the rich and famous traveled between Manhattan and their Long Island summer residences by fast, elegant boats.

Sailing enthusiasts, including Harold Vanderbilt, also used such commuters to follow their racing yachts comfortably from a deck chair.

Few of these masterpieces of nautical design - fast yet luxurious - have survived over the decades, and Mohican stands as one of the finest examples. Measuring 19.85 meters (66 feet) in length, with accommodation for six guests, a spacious and comfortable salon, and retaining most of her original details, Mohican has spent many years cruising the Mediterranean.

She was lovingly restored over six years by an Italian enthusiast, ensuring her character and elegance were preserved.

Following her years of cruising Italy - from Capri and Amalfi to Positano, Stromboli, Sardinia, Palermo, and Corsica - her current German owner is now considering passing this unique piece of maritime heritage on to a new, passionate custodian.

Mohican is currently moored in Marina Porto Maurizio in Imperia/ Liguria, near San Remo and is easily reachable from Nice, Monaco and Genova. If desired, arrangements can also be made to transport her back to the United States.

A unique chance to purchase a fully equipped boat rich with history and timeless elegance.
