Description
Shoal-draft bluewater cruiser with new chainplates. Spacious layout, solid build, self-tacking jib and classic lines deliver comfort and confidence.
This Island Packet is a bluewater capable cruiser with a reputation for comfort and safety - purpose-built for adventure. Aurelia embodies Island Packet’s legendary reputation for comfort and safety, making it one of the most respected cruising sailboats of its era. With her full-keel design, she delivers exceptional tracking while protecting both rudder and propeller—giving you confidence anywhere underway.
Inside, this Island Packet's 12 foot beam provides a spacious two-cabin layout with generous saloon, creating a warm inviting environment for extended voyages or weekend escapes. Her heavy displacement ensures stability and smoother motion in challenging seas, while the versatile cutter rig/self-tacking jib provide unmatched sail-handling options across a wide range of wind conditions. From the generous tankage for long passages to the craftsmanship of her interior joinery, every detail was designed to provide confidence and comfort.
Additional design features;
-Integral shallow draft "full foil keel" and hull (no bolted on keel) with an almost 50% ballast/displacement ratio and better tracking
-Rudder and propeller are protected from inevitable groundings, and helps prevent fouling from traps
-Rack and pinion steering, no cables
-Versatile Cutter rig with self tacking jib handles easily and adapts for a wide range of wind conditions. Generally over-sized rigging.
-Wide recessed foredeck walkway for safety and confidence when going forward in bumpy conditions
-Immediate anchor availability on the bow with roller fairleads for two anchors, a newer Maxwell windlass and stowage below for rode
Recent upgrades include - chainplates replaced (Zimmerman 2025), mast removed/inspected/lights replaced (2025), much of the running rigging replaced (2025), all 3 AGM batteries replaced (2025), bottom paint (2025), through hull fittings reworked, engine refurb (2025) that included propeller replacement, mounts aligned, fuel injection pump and injectors rebuilt, fuel tank cleaned/polished.
Interior Layout
The forward stateroom offers a large, comfortable berth with storage drawers below. The forward cabin provides plenty of ventilation in the form of a large overhead hatch and two opening ports.
The head is located just aft of the forward stateroom to port and offers a large wrap-around counter, lots of cabinets, a shower with a contoured seat and curtain, and drains that work heeled in either direction. In addition, there is private access from either the salon or the forward cabin.
The main salon features comfortable port & starboard settees and a bulkhead-mounted table that drops down to accommodate dining. In the dropped position, the table reveals additional shelving for those favorite books, cards, or libations. When the table is stowed, the salon has a very spacious and uncluttered feel with the 12' beam and 6'4" headroom. There is terrific storage beneath both settees.
The navigation table shares the aft end of the port settee for the navigator’s seat and has ample room for bound chart kits or folded charts. The electrical control panel is housed in a built-in cabinet over the nav table, with the stereo and radio located in a panel to the right.
The Galley is starboard aft in a wrap around 'U' shape that gives a secure location for working in a seaway. It incorporates molded non-skid to increase safety and durability in this high-traffic area. The well-insulated ice-box/refrigeratro has interior shelves and ample volume for holding provisions. Numerous drawers, cabinets and lockers, and built-in dish and cutlery storage provide ample room for stores and utensils. In addition, the galley features a fold-up counter extension, two deep polished stainless steel sinks, a safety-type LPG range with oven complete with guardrail and harness attachments.
