    The ultimate COVID Off the grid, self contained, escape pod.Currently lying in Wellfleet, MA, on the hard.Description.If you know these boats, you know only half the story about this one.Basic Stats are as follows:LOA: 44’ to end of pulpitBeam: 13’ - 6”Draft: 5’-0”Air Draft: +\- 48’Engine: Perkins 4-236, +\- 2000 hrsNEW Velvet Drive transmission installed June 2019Full keel, attached rudder, internal ballast, solid glass, tough as nails.2017 survey available(email me at sswain@comcast.net for full story)on deck, a Mantus 85 lb anchor and 200’ of 3/8” chain handled by a Plath horizontal windlass - 20 lbs over recommended size, but guaranteed to hold her to the bottom in the worst blows - new main, mizzen and working jib, sails custom built on Cape Cod by Squeteague Sailmakers (2017, jib 2018), She also has a 110% genoa on roller furler out on the end of the pulpit that was restitched and had a new leech line seven in in 2018. In 2017, all new halyards and shackles, new sail covers and dodger with bimini, completely re-plumbed propane tanks (2), Trident solenoid switch with gas detector and auto shutdown and alarm feature. Decks were re-painted with Petit EZ decks non-skid paint. All cap rails were stripped, sanded and revarnished. All other teak trim is natural and salty.Down below, (2016) the project included a massive hydraulic auto-pilot by Lecombe and Schmidt with Garmin controller connected to a Garmin GPSMap 741XS mounted at the nav station, mast-top wind instruments, hi def depth transducer (redundant to a Standard digital depth unit and transducer) Garmin HD Radar on mizzen, Standard Horizon Matrix AIS GPS VHF at the nav station with remote cockpit mic and controls as well as a mizzenmast mounted hailer, interfaced to the Garmin GPS for AIS on GPS screen. The auto pilot has a control head in the cockpit accessible to the helm as well as a wireless remote, a feature that allows the helmsman to be anywhere on the deck or at the nav station or even standing on top of the gallows with full steering control. The Garmin unit is wifi compatible and allows for an iPad to be used as a helm control as well as the ability to use an iPhone or other WiFi compatible device to interact and control the main unit. This keeps the head unit out of the weather and safe from theft as these units are stand-alone and targets for thieves.At the nav station there is also a Raymarine RN 300 GPS unit for back-up and a new Bluetooth compatible stereo with new cockpit speakers and KLH speakers in the salon.The 2015-16 refit also heavily upgraded the electrical system, previously installed in the post sinking rebuild. The 6-6 volt golf cart battery house bank was replaced with new batteries as well as the 2 12v engine batteries. The entire system was re-wired to simplify the previous 4 selector switch layout into a simplified 2 switch system - one for house and one for engine. Significantly, 2 Keocera 158W solar panels were mounted to pivoting mounts on the pushpit, allowing the panels to be lowered to inboard of the toe rails for docking safety and allowing for tilt adjustability for max exposure to the sun. The panels are wired to 2 Bluesky system controllers managed by a IPN pro-remote panel at the nav station. Apart from the solar and the generator, the main engine has a new 120w alternator. To further the electrical systems efficiency we replaced all light bulbs with LED bulbs or fixtures, interior lights have dual red or white functions for night vision, all navigation lights are LED including running lights in old-school Hella housings and mast-head anchor light. Added 4 new super bright LED spreader lights and foredeck light as well as steaming light. If you need it, the decks can be lit like it’s daytime. New inverter located in engine room is wired to an outlet at nav station.In the galley we installed a new engine heated (110v available and wired but not hooked up) hot water heater with mixing valve and all new pex tubing lines to a new cockpit shower and the galley sink. New water pump under settee.New Isotherm 5.5 cu/ft fridge.The entire interior was repainted and revarnished in the 2016 refit. The sole (floors) were recently repainted with Sherwin Williams industrial floor paint (12/2018)New interior sette’ cushions June of 2020.Being a 42-year-old boat, there always exists a list of improvements that need to be attended to.The biggest would be the decks that will need to be looked after in the coming years. The most recent 2017 survey has indicated that there is some delamination starting to happen. Installation of the pump-out fitting (which can be provided) shows that the core is not rotten and there are numerous solutions available. If I were to keep the boat I would do nothing as they are still solid but it shows in the survey and I want to stay with full disclosure. A vacuum-powered resin injection process can be employed to fix the decks. Details available to potential buyers.She is a salty boat, made to be used and not a yacht club dock queen.We are currently looking to move to a larger Catamaran to afford us the family and research space.Wherever she goes she gets compliments on her design and looks as she is one of a few classic-plastic boats remaining in the modern world of lightly built, go-fast Clorox bottles.She is a rough-and-tough, beamy, heavy girl who takes bad weather and even an occasional bottom rub in stride. She is best described as a salty boat with a working-boat interior who will get you there in comfort and old-school style.
