Description
Beautiful wooden salon boat, heritage, history, restored with great respect and above all a fantastic boat to sail with.
In 1940, a luxurious wooden salon boat for its time was built in Brundall (UK) at the renowned and one of the oldest British yards, Brooms Boats. Even before it had its first owner, the ship was requisitioned by the British army to possibly deploy it during 'Operation Dynamo' and the evacuation of British soldiers as one of the 'Little Dunkirk Ships' as we know them today from the film 'Dunkirk'. In 1946, after returning to the yard, the yacht received its first private British owner. At the end of the 1970s, it moved to the Netherlands to undergo its first thorough restoration in 1995. When the yacht got a Belgian owner in 2003, it was named 'Broomside', its current name. In 2017, it was included in the 'inventory of immovable heritage' in Flanders. The yacht is lovingly maintained and underwent a thorough refit with respect for the original design and construction method.
The Broomside has an impressive history. It is a fascinating yacht that attracts all attention while underway or in the harbors. You cannot look past it. The yacht has elegant lines, robustness, and at the same time a romance. It has a sleek design with a pointed bow that elegantly flares out towards the back.
The interior breathes history. Central is the wheelhouse with a door on each side and below it the engine hatch. At the back is a seating area with a table and two chairs and a long bench that serves as a sofa or extra bed. The narrow double door takes you to the galley all the way at the back. It is a beautiful space with a simple design.
At the front, the yacht has a similar layout with the same narrow wooden doors. The cabin has a bed on each side with storage space underneath, and at the tip is a toilet with a hand basin.
With this classic wooden salon boat, you can enjoy fine trips. It is an eye-catcher, a yacht to cherish and enjoy every detail. Broomside is looking for a new owner to write its next chapter. Do you feel the passion?
