HISTORIC BARGE FROM 1948 - RENOVATION PROJECT
Price: 30,000 €
Technical specifications
Length: 38.89 m
Width: 5.05 m
Construction: 1948, Van Garsse shipyard (Moerbecke, Belgium)
Materials: Steel and aluminum
Engine: Volvo Penta TAMD 268, 64 kW (replaced before the retirement of the barge operator)
General condition
Structure
Very good structural condition - This barge has a solid structure with the dead works in good condition. The old orange exterior paint is peeling and requires repainting on the entire exterior, but the underlying structure remains sound. Inside, the historic paint is present, in good condition, and shows no signs of oxidation.
A hull survey will be necessary during a dry docking.
Engine
The Volvo Penta engine was replaced before the previous barge operator's retirement. It has therefore run little and is currently winterized in good condition. A restart is to be expected (replacement of batteries, adjustments of cables at the steering station).
Current layout
Operator accommodation
Living room with equipped kitchen
Sofa area and living zone
Bedroom to be completely redone
Some broken portholes to be replaced
Cargo hold
Height: 5 meters
Potential: Large storage capacity or conversion into living space
Possibility: Creation of two decks for approximately **200 m² of total area**
Technical rooms
Engine room equipped with a generator in good condition
An old non-functional generator
Forward cabin (former crew member's room) completely dismantled, to be redone
Particularities
Unique bow
Following an accident about thirty years ago, the front of the barge was completely redone by a shipyard after a collision. This renovation gives it a **very rare bow shape** for this type of barge, giving it a unique character.
