Description
Polarfuchs – Historic Icebreaker (1957)
Built in 1957 by the renowned German shipyard J.G. Hitzler, the Polarfuchs represents an authentic vintage workboat, with a strong character and extremely robust construction. Originally designed as an icebreaker and service vessel for operations in the North Sea, this boat today embodies a rare opportunity for those wishing to own a piece of naval history or develop a custom Explorer Yacht conversion project.
With a length of about 32 meters, a width of 8 meters, and a draft of about 3.5 meters, the Polarfuchs features an extremely solid steel hull and a reinforced bow designed for operations in challenging conditions. The displacement is approximately 350 tons, while the maximum speed reaches about 16 knots, with a cruising speed around 12 knots.
The vessel is equipped with an Alpha/MAN V10 turbo engine of about 1700 HP, installed in the 1980s, which currently operates optimally.
