Layout
From bow to stern, the layout aboard this Huckins Linwood 53 is both practical and inviting, offering comfortable accommodations for owners and guests alike.
Forward Accommodations
The forepeak features a dedicated anchor rode storage compartment. Just aft are the crew quarters with over-and-under berths, a hanging locker, and a private head to starboard complete with a separate stall shower.
Galley Level
Continuing aft on the same level, the full galley is to port and well-equipped with a gas range, microwave convection oven, sink, toaster oven, and two pullout refrigerator drawers. To starboard, a galley buffet provides generous additional storage, along with one refrigerator and one freezer for extended cruising convenience.

Salon
Up three steps and moving aft, the salon offers a welcoming gathering space. To port is an L-shaped settee with coffee table, while to starboard there is a TV and space for two occasional chairs, creating a comfortable entertainment area.
Guest & Master Staterooms
Down four steps aft of the salon is the companionway. To starboard is the electrical room, and to port a guest stateroom with over-and-under berths, hanging locker, and ample drawer storage. The guest head is to starboard with a separate shower stall.
Further aft is the master stateroom, featuring twin berths to port and starboard, two hanging lockers, and a private head with shower stall.
Cockpit & Engine Access
Up five steps aft leads to the cockpit through a door from the master area. The engine room is located below the cockpit sole, providing convenient service access.
Bridge Deck
From the salon, five steps up lead to the spacious semi-enclosed bridge deck. It features a full hardtop, fixed side windows, and an isinglass enclosure aft for weather protection. The helm console is centerline forward with a companionway seat to port. A built-in lounge aft includes all-new navy Ultraleather cushions and new carpeting, creating a comfortable and stylish helm deck ideal for cruising or entertaining.
Mechanical
Power is provided by twin GM 8V71N diesel engines, each rated at 323 HP at 2300 RPM. Both engines were rebuilt in 2020 and currently show approximately 550 hours since rebuild. They are fresh water cooled for longevity and reliability.
The engines turn 24" x 24" three-bladed bronze propellers and are supported by new engine mounts. All exhaust components and risers have been replaced.

Construction
Frames are 1x3" sawn white oak on approximate 14" centers with double 1/2" plywood floor timbers and chime gussets glued and bolted to the frames. Engine and V drive beds are four vertically mounted 2" side bolted to the frames. There are four bulkheads (3 are watertight): Forepeak, ahead of Hold A, aft of Hold B, and ahead of engine compartment. The three aft bulkheads are fitted with limber hole valves. The hull planking is double 3/8" diagonal Philippine mahogany glued with resorcinal resin and fastened with copper clinch nails and bronze screws. The deck is 3/4" marine plywood over 1x2" deck beams. The superstructure is 3/4" marine plywood. The hull is sheathed in 20 oz. fiberglass cloth set in epoxy. The decks and superstructure tops are sheathed in 10 oz. fiberglass cloth set in epoxy. The interior bilge planking has been epoxy coated.
