Description

For sale for new adventures; a ship that has proven itself. No words, but actions. Designed and built for and by one of the leading figures in the Dutch maritime industry and having remained in the family for 35 years, this yacht has made journeys that most only dream of. The "Blauw", formerly "Nepos", is built as a sea vessel in yacht format; watertight compartments, a self-righting capability of up to 135 degrees, over 10,000 liters of diesel and 3,000 liters of drinking water, and a (real) range of 3,500 nautical miles at 8 knots (with a 25% safety reserve), making it easy to cross the Atlantic (and Pacific) Ocean. The virtually endless collective experience with seafaring of the designer(s), owners, and builders has been distilled into this yacht. The yacht was built by Shipyard De Lek, based on a design by A. Volker, refined and detailed by/for D.L.H. (Dick) Smit and was launched in May 1978. After 35 years in the family and countless journeys, it was purchased in 2013 by its current owner. He has carried out a refit to increase (living) comfort and reduce maintenance sensitivity. A new Kabola boiler has been installed, all kitchen appliances have been renewed and expanded, the living spaces and owner's cabin have been restyled, and a 7 kW Whisper generator and a 3500 Watt inverter have been added to the already impressive power supply. The guest cabin in the aft has been converted into a modern walk-in shower (with underfloor heating) and a large walk-in closet/dressing area. This can easily be converted back to provide 1 or 2 sleeping places with a relatively small investment. The yacht has also been provided with a completely new paint system in 2019, and the teak decks have been replaced with a professional anti-slip paint system. The wheelhouse, with its history, a witness to many journeys, has been kept as original as possible. The refit also aimed to make living on board comfortable without compromising the original qualities of the yacht. The current owner and his wife have lived on board for several years (even with snow and ice on deck). The journeys made included (but are not limited to); a round Atlantic: Netherlands - Azores - Bermuda - Wilmington (USA) - intra-coastal waterway to Annapolis - Philadelphia - New York - Greenwich - Halifax (Canada) - Newfoundland - Greenland - Iceland (Reykjavik) - Faroe Islands, Caledonian Canal with Loch Ness, and back to the Netherlands. Furthermore, in random order Northern Europe (Zeebrugge - Dunkirk, London, Cowes, Oban, Inverness, Aberdeen, Cuxhaven, Kiel), Scandinavia (Svendborg, Thyboron, Kristiansand, Bergen, Larvik, Oslo, Marstrand, Aalborg, Copenhagen, Visby, Norrköping, Stockholm), Atlantic coast (Honfleur, Cherbourg, Guernsey, A Coruña, Lisbon, Puerto Banus) and Mediterranean (Alicante, Mallorca, Barcelona, Marseille, Nice, Monaco, Portofino, and Sardinia). As mentioned, not limited. The yacht has a functional layout; the particularly spacious aft deck flows seamlessly into the wide side decks with high bulwarks. In the aft, there is a garage with storage for parts and sailing inventory, accessible via a hatch. On the foredeck, there are various (escape) hatches, which also provide separate access to the fore ship, in case one wants to sail with professional crew. The superstructure features a wooden access door and two folding windows, allowing the wheelhouse to be fully opened at the back. Under the overhanging roof, there is a sheltered L-shaped bench with various escape hatches from the spaces in the aft. In the wheelhouse, there is a large L-shaped bench (with heating plate underneath) and visibility all around. Through the watertight door, a few steps down, one enters the salon, equipped with a galley at the same level (semi-open kitchen) and a comfortable U-shaped seating area. The fore ship (possibly usable as crew quarters) has a shower/toilet and a forward cabin (with watertight door) with two beds. There is also access to the engine room from the fore ship, again via a watertight door. From the salon to the rear, on the starboard side, there is the boiler room, a laundry room, and a toilet, and on the port side, the dressing area with walk-in closet and walk-in shower with underfloor heating. Across the width of the ship, at the back, is the owner's cabin with a very spacious freestanding bed. Further features of the yacht; AEG washing machine and dryer, Etna dishwasher, very spacious aft deck with garage and lounge set, compressed air via compressor, pneumatic wipers to prevent compass deviation, generous seating in the wheelhouse, wide safe side decks with high bulwarks, rear bulkhead can be fully opened, 4 x double professional cleats + 4 x single cleats, folding mast with support sail, escape route/escape hatches for all cabins, CVO, handrails around the superstructure and in the interior, aluminum mast, foldable with electric winch, workbench in engine room with tools and spare parts and packing sets. The yacht is fully documented with the complete set of technical drawings, a conclusive logbook, a repeatedly updated engine room manual, valid CVO certificate, and an almost endless amount of stories, adventures, and historical material. To be delivered with VAT Customs declaration, Certificate of Inspection, the complete archive, the entire sailing inventory, and a thorough explanation/transfer. For questions and/or to make an appointment on this special yacht, you are welcome 7 days a week at Elburg Yachting.
