A home in the Caribbean!!

Welcome to Dancer, a Sea Ranger 50, a 50ft trawler built by King Yacht Corp in Taiwan in 1988. Dancer currently lives in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. This vessel has had only one owner, commissioned from the yard directly. The owner is now retired and stepping off Dancer after decades of travels and good service!

Getting on this Sea Ranger 50 from the dock with an aft gangway, we go up a few ladder steps to arrive in an outside terrace that is enclosed and protected from the elements. Nice place to hang out for a morning coffee, there is even a TV in a cabinet. (Boat has been hooked up to Dish Satellite)

From here we can access the fly-bridge, the side decks or go down below into the main salon. The top deck is one of the control stations, with the other one located in the salon. There is also a sunbath deck aft, with 2x100W solar panels installed, with room for lots more if you'd wish to reduce electrical bills and be more self-sufficient.

The side decks are spacious and deep enough to walk around the bow easily and securely. At the bow, we have a Danforth anchor, no windlass at the moment but the fiberglass base has been redone and all wires are there. There's 2 solid bollard cleats and good eye fair-leads to secure the boat with proper sized lines.

Getting back in the boat, we find a practical kitchen with a full-sized fridge, and convection stove top. Even room for a dishwasher. The helm station is off to the starboard side, with a unique custom-made Epoxy chart table, with decorative knots and the chart of the US Virgin Island integrated within.

The boat has one aft master cabin with a king-size bed, a desk, many drawers and closets. Mirrors have been installed on many walls which can make the room feel even bigger than it is. It has a private bathroom with sink, head and enclosed shower.

Moving forward we find 2 separate cabins that share one bathroom. The counter for the sink is cracked and needs attention. The forward shower is big and feels like it could easily be converted into a sauna to sit 4 adults!

The engine room is accessible from a small doorway under the stairs leading forward, but there's also floorboards in the main salon for top access. It houses the 2 Lieman-Ford diesel engines, a generator, the battery banks, a water filtration system, a mechanics tool chest and more.

Getting on and off the boat, we stepped over the aft swim platform, this deck has soft sections that need to be addressed.

All the different areas on this trawler make it feel like a great live aboard, especially with the king-size bed!! This boat would be great for a couple with 2 kids or people wanting some extra cabins available to invite friends on sailing trips!
