Description
The 1995 Sea Ray 270 Sundancer is a mid-size express cruiser that blends classic design with practical comfort and performance. It was built with a solid fiberglass hull and featured a streamlined deck profile that improved upon earlier models. At just 8 feet 6 inches wide, it remains trailerable in most areas, yet still offers a surprisingly spacious interior and cockpit for a boat of its size.
Inside, the layout is efficient and well-suited for weekend cruising. It features a convertible V-berth in the bow, a dinette area that doubles as sleeping space, and a mid-cabin berth that sleeps two more, making it capable of sleeping up to six. The galley comes equipped with a sink, stove, refrigerator, and microwave, while the enclosed head includes a toilet, sink, and shower for full overnight functionality.
The cockpit is designed for both comfort and socializing, with a double helm seat, aft-facing lounges, a wet bar, and a foldaway rear bench seat. Most models include a swim platform, bimini top or full camper enclosure, and optional windlass or extended swim deck.
Power typically comes from a single MerCruiser 7.4L sterndrive engine producing around 300 horsepower, although some variations feature twin 4.3L engines or even performance-enhanced options like a 383 Stroker. At cruising speeds in the low 20-knot range and a top speed in the mid-30s, it delivers solid on-water performance for its size.
The 1996 270 Sundancer measures about 29 to 30 feet overall (including pulpit), with a dry weight of approximately 6,400 pounds. Fuel capacity is around 100 gallons, with freshwater tanks holding roughly 24–28 gallons, depending on the configuration.
This model is well-regarded for its balance of livability, manageable size, and dependable performance. While age can introduce wear and maintenance concerns, many still consider it a smart option for entry-level cruisers or experienced boaters looking for a reliable weekend boat with classic Sea Ray styling.
