Owners Comments and Boat History
My Wife and I purchased this vessel in 2011, and over the years she has proven to be an exceptional offshore fishing and living platform. She has been used primarily for pelagic fishing on the north and south drops around the BVI, as well as other offshore areas. We have also made numerous trips to Fajardo, Puerto Rico, both for pleasure and occasionally for Volvo service, enjoying stops along the way at Culebra and Vieques.
The layout is ideal for tropical fishing. You can comfortably control the boat from below or from the flybridge, and the bridge helm sits two steps higher than the cockpit, providing excellent visibility when fishing or running offshore. She is a tremendous head-sea boat, which is essential in the BVI where wind and sea conditions are often part of the program.
The boat is absolutely perfect for two people to live aboard. With the 5 kW generator and air conditioning, my wife and I spent many nights aboard at anchor in Nanny Cay and other locations. The cabin and salon are exceptionally well laid out, with impressive space for a 35-foot boat.
Anyone familiar with sportfishing boats is always surprised that she is “only” a 35 footer. Mechanics and technicians regularly comment on the spacious engine room—there is room to move around the engines comfortably, and at 6’2” tall I can even sit alongside them to perform routine maintenance.
I truly believe this boat raises fish. After more than 50 years of offshore fishing on many custom sportfishermen, I can say without hesitation that this is a special boat. I absolutely love her.
Prior to our purchase, the boat was kept in New Jersey during the summers and Jensen Beach, Florida during the winters. I took delivery in Stuart, Florida in 2011, where I immediately had both the freshwater and saltwater sides of the engine cooling systems removed and professionally serviced, along with other maintenance items.
She was then shipped from Fort Lauderdale to St. Thomas, where I took delivery and ran her to Tortola, Nanny Cay, where she has been based since.
Before purchasing the boat, I had the opportunity to meet the Henriques family and tour their production facility in Bayville, New Jersey. Their construction standards are outstanding—the lamination, bulkheads, cabinetry, storage, fuel capacity, and engine room design all reflect serious offshore intent. The previous owner cared for her meticulously, and I have continued that same level of care.
