Description

This 2000 Shamrock 260 Express has 75 hours on the new 2011 yanmar 315 hp diesel. The trailer is good. The boat comes with an upper helm. It has shore power.

The Shamrock 260 Express has a spacious cabin with a double berth which converts to a dinette with a pedestal table. The deluxe galley comes standard with sink, stove, and refrigerator. The cabin entry has convenient steps and a handy storage compartment beneath. The 260's enclosed head compartment has an opening port window and comes standard with a marine toilet. The cockpit and raised bridge deck are a perfect combination for casual cruising. A big, circulating baitwell and bait prep station with washdown makes rigging quick and convenient. The 260 Express has Shamrock's patented KeelDrive power system. A fully integrated, full-length keel protects the bottom, prop, and rudder. The result is a line of inboard-powered boats that can beach or run shallow without a worry. The keel also enhances the boat's overall stability and tracking, and makes it predictable and seaworthy in heavy seas.

The Shamrock 260 Express with a Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 315 HP diesel engine typically has a cruise speed of around 20-24 knots, with a fuel consumption of approximately 50-60 liters per hour (about 13-16 US gallons per hour) at cruising RPMs (roughly 3000-3400 RPM).

Key Engine Features

Reliability: The Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 is a mechanically operated, turbocharged, and intercooled engine, known for its reliability and power-to-weight ratio.

Efficiency: It features a two-stage fuel injector system for better performance and economy compared to some other mechanically operated diesel engines.

Operational Notes: Yanmar recommends running the engine at "maximum speed minus 400 RPM most of the time (approximately 70% load)" for optimal engine health and performance, with a full-throttle run every 30 minutes.

The cockpit and raised bridge deck are a perfect combination for casual cruising. A big, circulating baitwell and bait prep station..

What's the typical lifespan of a Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 diesel engine with good maintenance?

With good maintenance and proper operation, a Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 marine diesel engine can typically last between 5,000 and 8,000 hours before needing a major overhaul. In commercial applications, with rigorous maintenance and almost continuous use under load, it is not uncommon to see these engines (and similar heavy-duty diesels) reach or exceed 10,000 hours of service life.
