Description
Primatist has been synonymous with sporty and fast boats for many years. Evolving from the previous G48 AeroTop, the G55 inherits practically all the stylistic features, deck layout, and internal compartmentalization. The advantage of having a clean hull of 15.36 meters compared to the 14.76 of its smaller sister lies in the fact that it utilizes an even more performing hull, especially in rough seas, and adds valuable space to the deck. The profile of the Primatist G55 is therefore very sleek, with a sloping windshield well integrated with the side supports of the windows. The Aero Top is the element that most attracts the observer's attention due to its aggressive and innovative shape that, despite its generous proportions, emphasizes the sporty imprint of the boat. The hull, sharp and stable, designed by Bruno Abbate himself, is capable of delivering exhilarating performance while maintaining a decent volume of living spaces. The layout and furnishings of the interiors, along with the deck design, were curated by architect Gianni De Canio. A choice by the designer aimed at maximum comfort while sailing and at mooring, with elegant and well-kept interiors and a deck utilized almost to its full width, which at its maximum point reaches 4.65 meters.
Made from a female mold with manual lamination and simple layering, the hull is particularly rigid. This was demonstrated during jumps out of the water at 40 knots: during the landing on the next wave, no particular vibrations were recorded either in the hull or in the side windows (which, not being part of the hull structure, are less robust). The deck, on the other hand, was made using sandwich construction, a type of building that interposes a layer of balsa between two layers of fiberglass. Unlike thermoplastic or PVC, this precious material combines lightness with robustness. Balsa wood is particularly appreciated in those load conditions where the compressive stress is very high. And on a hull with these performances, the deck is a fundamental structural element. The preference given to vinylester resin, which has better properties than isophthalic polyester as it has a stronger molecular bond, makes the product lighter and more protected against the harmful effects of osmosis. The use of triaxial and unidirectional fabrics has also allowed for strengthening the structure with layers designed for a specific load, without overly weighing down the overall boat. As for the interiors, the shipyard did not have the same regard for weight preservation. The extensive use of marine plywood, enhanced with cherry, mahogany, and teak along with lacquered surfaces, has certainly affected the displacement, but on the other hand, the warm and welcoming atmosphere achieved in the interiors could never be realized by replacing wood with plastic material, even if made in the best possible way.
