Description
NEW ARRIVAL - NAVASANA Possibly the best Carriacou sloop.
Was built by master boatbuilder Alwyn Enoe on the beach in Carriacou in 2008. Alwyn Enoe’s craft was immortalized in Alexis Andrews award winning film “Vanishing Sail” which tells the story of the tradition of boatbuilding on the Island, the long, painstaking process of building the Carriacou Sloop “Exodus” and culminates in Alwyn and his sons bringing that vessel to Antigua and racing in the Antigua Classic Regatta.
Navasana has graced Antigua Classic Regatta on numerous occasions under her previous name “Ocean Nomad” and participated once more in 2024 as Navasana.
The present owner acquired her in 2020 and embarked on a total restoration by Andrew Robinson of Woodstock Boatbuilders
Staying true to the traditions, nearly everything has been replaced and restored. She has many new frames, new sections in the mast, been strengthened with new knees and stringers, with bunks and galley fitted leaving as much of the structure visible to see the cavernous beauty of this vessel. She has been fitted with a windlass, a traveller, depth sounder, running lights and a head to make her more comfortable to sail. North Sails have supplied all new sails including her famous mermaid asymmetric, A&A rigging worked out the new rigging with help from all the Carriacou crew. Antigua Sails finished things off with the sail cover and awning. It’s been a real team effort!
Artist Aragorn from the BVIs whose fireballs have brought him worldwide recognition, designed the logo, carved and sculpted the transom board and the copper mermaids on the bow, making Navasana a true work of Art. She won the award for The Best Refit in Antigua Classics in 2023 and won the Concourse d’Elegance in 2024. She has participated in the legendary West Indies Regatta which is held in St. Barths annually.
This season she is heading home to Carriacou to support and warm the hearts of the community there as they recover from Hurricane Beryl. She will be gracing the Grenada Sailing Week, Antigua Classic Regatta and the West Indies Regatta again this year.
Navasana is now for sale, presenting the opportunity for a wooden boat enthusiast to join this special club and to keep the tradition of Carriacou sloops alive.
