2017 Beneteau Oceanis 60 | Si Spirit
Smooth as silk, fun as hell and stunningly beautiful, Si Spirit is flagship Beneteau Oceanis 60.
Her meticulous owner has taken incredibly good care of her, and she presents almost ‘as new’ with hardly any wear and tear to speak of, and under 300hrs on her engine, despite her 2017 age.
The original sugar scoops have been replaced by a modest electric dinghy garage that doubles as a convenient swim platform. For blue-water sailors Si Spirit is Category “A” (Ocean) for 12 people and is fitted with additional water and fuel tanks for extended voyages.
Berret Racoupeau designed the hull to be high-volume and to maximise deck space, yet this cruiser can be easily sailed single handed. The Nauta Design interiors are as beautiful as they are functional.
Entry to the saloon via an easy-to-use electric washboard, reveals a vast, stunning interior with a well-appointed U-shaped galley to port, a spacious nav station and desk to starboard and a dinette area that comfortably seats 8-10 people.
The dinette’s island bench seat doubles as a coffee table and hidden behind the portside lounge is a bar on an electric lift. There is also an additional drawer fridge and washer/dryer. The stylish cabinetry features secure chrome latches on the many lockers throughout.
Her three-cabin layout includes a luxurious owner’s suite with island bed forward and two double cabins aft, one of which can convert to two singles. Each cabin has its own bathroom, including stand up shower, large sink and electric flush toilet. Both aft cabins have tall headroom and overhead lockers. In addition, a crew cabin with two bunks and complete bathroom is accessed via a large deck hatch, and makes an ideal hideaway for teenagers.
The keel-stepped three-spreader Selden rig with inboard shrouds and twin backstays offers several sail configurations and is strongly supported with chainplates running into the hull grid. The in-mast furling allows the main to be reefed to any position for safer and easier sail handling.
The cockpit with a large folding tabletop is huge and cleverly avoids clutter. A fibreglass archway supports the bimini and the large dodger with clears. At anchor, simply lower the electric swim platform for easy access into the dinghy and the water.
Sail controls are kept away from the front of the large cockpit where six people can easily shelter under the large bimini, while the sailors can get on with the job of handling the sails at the twin pedestals, made easier with the help of four electric winches. All lines are neatly stowed in two cockpit rope bags.
