Description
ECLIPSE Saros 50 -
A ‘SAROS’ is a period of about 18 years between repetitions of solar and a lunar eclipse. A period which marks a renewal, which is where the ECLIPSE brand enters the world of innovative and luxury yachting.
If you are reading this, then you are probably a yachting professional or an experienced owner. The Saros 50 feels very substantial and larger than its physical length and beam. It has, with the bulwarks down the largest deck are of any yacht in its size.
It is hard to convey the exceptional high standard of the build quality and the extraordinary lengths the manufacturer has gone to, in order to make an exceptional day boat, weekender and chase boat.
Built in Holland: This is a unique Jet Driven proposition high performance yacht - it costs a lot more to manufacture than a GRP construction fitted with relatively low power units equipped with vulnerable IPS drives. Production, high volume manufacturers shy away from building what we consider, to build the ultimate in its class.
As of January 2026, the Saros 50 is 90% complete with principally the below deck accomodation to be fitted out. Launch date set for March.
Additional Information
Market Position
- Positioned as a premium, performance-oriented yacht for owners seeking a stylish and capable 15-metre vessel.
- The Saros 50 is competitively priced within its class. There are relatively few direct competitors in this sector, most of which are constructed from fibreglass rather than aluminium.
- The principal competitors are similarly priced premium products but typically utilise IPS drives.
- IPS drives can present limitations when carrying the vessel aboard a larger superyacht, as the fixed pods protrude by approximately one metre beneath the hull, complicating storage.
- While surface drives or Arneson drives are available on some comparable-sized yachts, these alternatives generally lack the open-deck layout offered by the Saros 50.
- Additional disadvantages of IPS systems include restricted access to shallow waters, higher maintenance costs, and increased susceptibility to damage from semi-submerged objects.
The Saros 50 has the potential to be a game-changer in this niche segment of luxury day boats and chase boats.
