Description

The Lindell 48'–the largest Lindell in our collection, and our first pilothouse sportfishing yacht designed with one question in mind: could we design a Lindell that would run 1,000 miles on one tank of fuel?

Just imagine the crossings that would allow. Vancouver Island to Seward, Alaska. San Diego to Cabo San Lucas. The Bahamas to the Panama Canal. From there? You could hit the Galapagos without stopping.

We wanted to build a boat that allowed anglers and adventurers alike to go great distances, truly living aboard the Lindell 48', pushing to places that were never in reach before.

More length and beam are necessary to carry that fuel. Our crew had long since harnessed the efficiency of Volvo Penta and Mercury Verado, and the vacuum-infused core that makes our boats a fraction the weight of traditional resin-laid hulls. The gas or diesel capacity had to be substantial but not unreasonable.

A common inclination would be to stretch such a boat into the 55-foot-plus range, but we knew our build process could bring that range to a smaller sportfishing-centric yacht. We needed to continue striking our signature balance of inshore maneuverability—striped bass, lingcod, salmon—with that offshore, big water stature—bluefin, halibut, swordfish. It’s still a Lindell, after all.

Of course, you’d also need enough room to live comfortably for all those days at sea. Redesigned fore and aft berths will accommodate more crew and more gear, and a repositioned and expanded galley feel just like your house "kitchen". We also knew space-use maximization was paramount, like a convertible table that can double as more sleep space with a press of a button.

That’s not to suggest you’d spend all your time in the pilothouse.  Custom configurations for livewells, fish holds, ice chippers, fillet tables, vacuum sealers, grills, and freezers are part of the design. A rigging and prep station center deck can be outfitted with important pieces of everyday use on your Lindell like fresh and raw water hookups and hoses, a sink, vacuum-sealer, and more. The davit up top can be used to easily remove this station, set it on the dock, and replace it with a hatch or a center-deck baitwell. Water makers and gyrostabilizers come standard. We have built plans for a flying bridge version of this vessel for those in warmer climates, as there could be no finer way to feel the breeze, spot the birds, or command the action on deck.

New to the Lindell family is direct-bond windows that give a seamless look from the outside, and gives us a two-window windshield for better visibility as you captain your way to paradise.

This boat has been the collective dream of our team and our customers. Now we have built it. Hull No. 1 is complete and headed to its new home as Hull No. 2 and No. 3 work their way through finishing and production.

What could you do with a 1,000-mile range? That puts Europe in reach, maybe even Asia. The Caribbean becomes a local lake; the Gulf of Alaska a playground.

This boat will be capable of feats few others are, and we can't wait to see what our new Lindell 48' owners have in store for this ultimate long-range fishing and adventure yacht.
