Description
"Snowbird" was completed in 1971; her original owner was a meticulous engineer who sailed her with his wife all over the east coast for 45 years. In 2017, the current owner purchased Snowbird and began an ambitious refit project with CW Hood Yachts to bring her to better than new condition. All the deck hardware was carefully removed, the weather decks replaced, the coach roof replaced, and the structure of the teak cabin house was reinforced. Elegantly shaped new teak toe rails were fitted, and modern materials were used to create the foundation for a new cockpit.
Her systems were removed to make way for modern replacements (Also Yanmar 75 horsepower diesel that has been rebuilt but presently not installed), while all her interior components were carefully preserved. Snowbird has had all the structural work completed to keep her going for another 50 years, but her owner has moved onto a larger Little Harbor yacht, and now wishes to see someone else complete this project.

Deck and Hull Details
"Snowbird" is a masterpiece collaboration between America’s Cup winning designer Ted Hood and esteemed boat builder Frans Maas. With her graceful sheer, elegant overhands and gentle tumblehome, she stands apart from her peers. Built with looks of a classic yacht with teak cabin house, she actually features a cored Airex fiberglass hull, giving her a light and strong structure.
Her well-proportioned cockpit, wide side decks, and electric furling mainsail and mizzen masts, coupled with electric primary winches, make her an easy to sail boat, while her centerboard configuration affords her access to shallower harbors.
Interior Details
Down below, she features a generously proportioned interior benefitting from her wide beam. The craftsmanship of Maas’ woodwork is unmatched. Starting forward is an elegant primary stateroom with private head and ample storage. Aft of that is a full head with shower, and the main salon features a double berth to port and additional settee and pilot berth to port. A custom teak gimbled table and fireplace complete the comfortable main salon. At the aft end of the cabin, a proper forward-facing navigation station is to port, while a large, U-shaped galley is to starboard.
The Interior was constructed in the Herreshoff style, with beautifully executed teak accents and hull ceilings. Beneath her teak and holly cabin sole are integrated fiberglass tanks, providing significant tankage for extended cruising. Abundant light comes from her 6 overhead hatches, 7 opening ports and four fixed ports.
