Description

The Bristol 40 Sloop MELADY has had three owners, with the present owner owning her for 24 years. During the first ownership the vessel was out of the water for 10 years. Additionally, this vessel has been configured for easy single-handing operation.

A Classic style Sloop, with long overhangs, lovely sheerline, keel-stepped mast.

A downwind preventer system is installed to facilitate mainsail safety when sailing downwind.

A dual tether safety system, extending from the port and starboard sides of the cockpit forward to the mast and then further forward to the bow is incorporated to enable safe deck operations in rough seas.

Electronic systems are redundant for helm and below deck operations of communications, navigation, and radar.

The boat is equipped with three anchors to facilitate close quarter anchoring (no windlass, but bow roller).

A Fairclough 3 piece winter cover, replaced from original, was purchased on 7/02/2021.  The boat has been winter covered since purchased with the mast indoors.

MELADY was last in the water in 2024; Sellers sadly are aging out of sailing. Thank you for your interest.
