UPDATED INFORMATION
1979 Cape George 36 SAHDANA
Well, who doesn’t appreciate cutter rigged sailboats whose lines are based upon traditional Bristol Channel Pilot Cutters famed for their seaworthiness? The SAHDANA built in 1979 by a legend, Cecil Lange of Cape George Marine Works in Port Townsend, Washington using plans developed by another legend Naval Architect Ed Monk of Seattle, leaning upon the rich development history of the type, to refine this hull design.
The resultant Cape George 36’s were robustly built with solid fiberglass laminate hulls and fiberglass laminated over wood decks and deckhouse structures. In the manner of the time: a number of these boats were sold as bare hull and deck for owner completion. The SUHDANA began this way with a factory built raised deckhouse providing abundant natural light and exterior views through its large windows. The vessel’s interior can be found as well constructed by the original owner resulting in a comfortable accommodation layout featuring varnished hardwood.
After twenty years of the present owner’s enjoyment, and just completing a general maintenance haul out with new antifouling coats, the SUDANA is a happy ship, ready for her new owner’s adventures.
