Lemsteraak Sabijn, seaworthy
Lemsteraak seaworthy.
The 'Sabijn' is one of several Lemsteraken designed and built by Siep van Houten from Westerbroek (Gr.) at his yard Phoenix bv. Since 1982, the 'Sabijn' has made a sea voyage almost every year. Her hull length measures over 13 m. (lock size 14.5 m.). An ideal size: not too large, so there is always a berth to be found in a (fishing) harbor, and large enough to sail comfortably for days.
Continuous side decks and an enlarged keel beam ensure that the centerboards do not need to be used in heavy seas.
The rigging is adapted for sailing with a small crew.
