Description
The Shannon 28 Windrose is in well-above average condition and sports the "C" layout which has the private head forward, has two settees port and starboard in the salon, followed by large quarterberth, while providing extraordinary storage. Walt Schulz designed this layout for long-range passagemaking. Other highlights include a 2006 Yanmar diesel, an epoxy barrier-coated bottom, plus newer sails, standing rigging, self-tailing winches, a Simrad radar-chartplotter, etc. Her Harken roller furling headsail adds to an inventory list that makes sailing this quality vessel a breeze.
But the most impressive thing about Windrose is the list of good people who have owned her. Shannon built S38 #25 for Wallace from Virginia who had a dream of starting a foundation that would teach under-privileged children how to sail. Then there was Thomas from Maine, who found that maintaining and constantly upgrading Windrose to perfection without regard to cost provided a refuge from heroic family struggles against cancer. The previous owner Brian of New York is sole caretaker of his son Bo, and they loved the experiences they enjoyed aboard "Windrose". We might have built a better "Good Karma" boat over the last 50 years than Windrose, but it is doubtful.
