Description
The Catalina 38 is a true classic — a Sparkman & Stephens design originally conceived as a racing yacht, refined by Catalina Yachts into one of the most graceful and versatile performance cruisers of her era. With fewer than 400 hulls built, these boats are now highly sought after for their rare blend of elegance, speed, and cruising comfort.
This freshwater-only Catalina 38 has been lovingly maintained and thoughtfully updated. She features upgraded electronics, a fully outfitted cruising package, and numerous extras — ready to go wherever your next adventure leads, whether it’s an extended cruising vacation or a competitive club regatta.
Her distinctive tumblehome hull, signature of Sparkman & Stephens’ design philosophy, enhances both stability and strength, giving her a solid yet responsive feel under sail. The balanced helm, generous sail plan, and sleek sheerline make her as beautiful to handle as she is to behold.
Highlights include:
Freshwater history – never exposed to saltwater
Upgraded electronics and systems
Extensive cruising gear and comfort upgrades
Proven performance pedigree — responsive, fast, and seaworthy
Exceptional build quality with timeless Sparkman & Stephens styling
If you’ve admired the great Catalina and S&S collaborations of the past, this vessel represents the best of both worlds — performance, tradition, and comfort in one elegant package.
