Description

The Cambria 44/46 was conceived by David Walters Yachts with the design criteria for a fast, comfortable, performance cruising yacht with build quality and safety at the top of the list.  They are an American built yacht.

The Cambria’s were offered as a viable option to such legendary yachts as Hinckley, Alden and Little Harbor. In today’s market it would include Hylas and Tayana for comparison.

Cambria Yachts have Airex PVC foam cored hulls resulting in a lighter, stronger and a more impact resistant hull than a monolithic (solid) fiberglass structure.

An Airex cored boat can withstand a direct impact without violation of the inside skin. There are few core choices and meet or exceed Airex foam. Added benefits are: Airex core offers about a 4.5 R value of thermal insulation and provides acoustic sound isolation as well. In short, foam boats are cooler in direct sunlight, do not sweat and they are quieter down below when its blowing like stink.

The decks are Divinycell PVC foam core. Divinycell does not absorb water and degrade like balsa and it has a higher temperature threshold.

Cambria’s were offered with a 6’ draft with a center board extending another 4’ for a total of 10’ draft for offshore sailing. After several boats, they offered the center board as an option as they found the hull design and 6’ draft provided great performance going to weather without having to use the centerboard.  “Simplicity” has had the centerboard removed as the owners found it unnecessary.

The rig is a Hood Stowaway internal main furling mast, two sets of spreaders are inline.

The genoa is on a Harken roller furler.

The decks are molded fiberglass, the cockpit is trimmed in teak has teak on the seats and cockpit floor.

Below decks access is provided by dual hatches, one from the cockpit and the other just aft of midship. The interior is varnished old growth teak.

Simplicity was built in Rhode Island and sailed on the East Coast. She was purchased by a West Coast couple that had her trucked to Seattle for a refit at a local boatyard.  She went cruising for a few years and since been used as a weekend cruiser and Summertime trips north in the Salish Sea and Desolation Sound.

They are moving onto the next stage of their lives and have decided to offer Simplicity to new owners who want to expand their cruising adventures.

Please call Jack Spriggs for a personal inspection of this fine yacht.
