Description

One of very few Vagabonds on the market! A true classic sailing yacht, "Driftwood" embodies a life on the seas and stirs people's dreams. The interior boasts rich solid wood with tons of detail and provides a spacious layout that would be a perfect live aboard. Although the owner truly hates to part with her, she is too large for his current needs which is why she is on the market. There are many upgrades and newer replacements that have been done which are listed below, but there are still projects to complete and maintenance that needs attention. Driftwood needs a new owner who has the time and passion to bring her back to the glory she deserves.

Pros:

( ) It has only 1300 hours on a 2008 Yanmar 4JH4AE which is running great and has always been well cared for. For example: The seller had the oil analyzed every couple of years at blackstonelabs.com. The seller maintained and flushed the raw water side of the engine with freshwater after every trip.
( ) Installed new auto-bleeding primary fuel filter on the Yanmar engine (new in 2018).
( ) Installed new engine mounts on the Yanmar engine (new in 2019).
( ) Installed new fuel pump on the Yanmar engine (new in 2019).

( ) Old cast iron fuel and water tanks replaced with new aluminum tanks around 2008.

( ) Four Interstate Golf Cart Batteries for about 400 amp hours total (New in 2024).

( ) Aquasana under-sink freshwater filter (new in 2020).

( ) Installed new ShurFlo Blaster II for the saltwater washdown system (new in 2019).
( ) Replaced main freshwater pump with ShurFlo AquaKing II (new in 2024).
( ) Added new high-water bilge alarm in the cockpit (new in 2021).
( ) Replaced 2 old broken seacocks with new Groco bronze seacocks (new in 2020).

( ) Spade #120 (55 lb) anchor (new in 2019) on 200 feet of chain. Mantus 65 lb anchor (new in 2018). Guardian G85 42 lb anchor. Fortress FX37 (new in 2018).

( ) Propane detectors - one in bilge and one at the galley floor level (new in 2018).

( ) Garmin GpsMap 1042xsv chartplotter with depth finder (new in 2018). Garmin AIS 800 (new in 2019). Garmin GND10/Gwind wind indicator at top of mast. Older but functioning Garmin radar.

( ) Older but functional Frigoboat freezer/refrigerator with newer keel cooler (new in 2018).

( ) ProSafe FS60 galvanic isolator (new in 2017).

( ) Entire hull (above the waterline) professionally sprayed with Awlgrip in 2018.

( ) Force 10 stove (new in 2019).

( ) Microwave (new in 2017).

( ) Groco engine freshwater flush kit (new in 2017).

( ) Installed new propeller shaft and coupling (new in 2020).

( ) Installed new lifelines (new in 2021).

( ) Blue Performance lee cloths in forward upper berth and pilot berth in salon (new in 2019).

( ) R&D Marine Couplings Drive Saver between the prop shaft coupling and the transmission coupling (new in 2019).

( ) Whale bilge pump and Johnson Controls 2000GPH bilge pump, both wired to Ultra Safety Systems Senior float switches and alarms in the main bilge (new in 2021) Rule 2000 bilge pump in the shower sump (new in 2020).

( ) Racor 500FG2 secondary fuel filter (new in 2020).

( ) KISAE 2000 watt full sine wave inverter (new in 2021)

( ) Older (around 2008) but functioning Bimini Top / Dodger with full eisenglass enclosure. Sewn with Profilin lifetime thread so all the thread is still in great shape.

( ) Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo with wireless remote throttle - used as dinghy motor and portable bow thruster. (New in 2024).

Other older equipment:

( ) Functioning Kuuma 11 gal hot water heater - small leak somewhere.

( ) Functioning Maxwell Nillson anchor windlass

( ) Functioning Griffin G900 Fuel Polisher.

( ) Tohatsu 3.5 dinghy engine - needs new fuel tank (new in 2013).

( ) Functioning Walker Bay dinghy - these dinghies seem to be pretty much indestructible.

( ) Two marine air conditioners: Older Cruiseair ZF5 (5000 btu) in aft stateroom - needs fan repair. Functioning Aqua Air 16000 btu in salon (new in 2016?).

( ) Except for the mizzen sail, which is in fair condition, the sails, mast and rigging are in good condition.

Cons:

( ) The chainplates need replacing and they are glassed in place. Most Vagabond owners are apparently leaving them in place and simply installing external chainplates, using the old ones and the fiberglass reinforcing as backing plates. Fortunately, the previous owner paid a woodworker to make relatively easy-to-remove teak inner hull coverings, so at least they are easy to get to without ripping out the beautiful teak interior wall sections.

( ) The deck needs to be taken up and pretty much totally replaced. A previous owner had the teak deck removed, the screw holes patched and then painted, but it was a poor job, so there is water in the core and leaking into the cabin in several areas.

( ) The aluminum water tanks need to be replaced with plastic tanks. A previous owner had the original iron tanks replaced but didn't know that aluminum doesn't work well with tap water over the long term. The tap water is slowly corroding the tank so they will need to be replaced back to plastic ones. This will not be an easy job because at the same time, a previous owner had a woodworker create a beautiful teak and holly floor in the salon which he glued and screwed in.
