Engine

SKYE has an 85 HP Perkins 4.236 diesel engine which drives a 3-bladed, 22 inch diameter propeller through a reversible Hurth transmission via a 1 3/4" diameter shaft. The combined shift lever and throttle control is located at the starboard helm along with the audible alarms for oil and temperature. The engine stop is located just below the tachometer on the instrument panel beside the starboard helm seat. The engine will propel the vessel to a maximum speed of just under 9 knots in calm water at the maximum RPM of 2800.
