Description
The Saturna 33 Pilothouse is a rugged Canadian-built cruising sailboat designed for comfort and offshore capability rather than speed. A 1990 model would be part of the same design originally introduced in the early 1980s and designed by naval architect William Garden. These boats were built in British Columbia by Saturna Yachts and are well known on the Pacific Northwest and Canadian cruising scene.
The Saturna 33 Pilothouse is a heavy-displacement offshore cruising sailboat featuring a distinctive raised pilothouse with an inside steering station, providing protection from wind, rain, and cold weather. This makes it especially suitable for northern climates such as the Pacific Northwest and Atlantic Canada.
The hull is a fiberglass monohull with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder, giving the boat strong directional stability and good protection for the rudder in rough conditions. The canoe-style stern and relatively narrow beam contribute to a smooth, comfortable motion at sea.
