Its unstayed rig is a defining characteristic, offering a unique sailing experience and reduced maintenance compared to traditional rigged boats. Rig and Sailing Characteristics:

• Free-standing Fractional Sloop Rig: This is the most notable feature. Unlike traditional sailboats, the Freedom 38 has no standing rigging (shrouds or stays) supporting its carbon fiber mast. This reduces maintenance, simplifies sail handling, and offers a clear deck.

• Self-tacking Jib with CamberSpar: The jib is set on a CamberSpar, which allows it to self-tack, eliminating the need for jib sheets to be trimmed on each tack, making single-handed or short-handed sailing much easier.

• Fully Battened Mainsail: The large mainsail is fully battened, with stack pack and Battcars system, allowing it to glide smoothly up and down the mast for easy hoisting and dousing.
