Description
Just listed, ready for Fall Cruising !
The Catalina 34 arguably delivers the best “Bang for the Buck” of American built mid 30’s sailboats. Designed as the “Little Sister” to the 36 and properly sailed, she can out-perform the standard rig 36 and give other designs in her class a run for their money. The 34 is one of the first boats that Gerry Douglas lead the design team on changing the interior layout from the traditional Catalina floor plan. The head aft opens up the interior making the forward cabin larger. She sleeps 6 people between the fwd cabin, saloon and aft cabin. Plenty of room for family and friends. The cockpit seats are long enough for a 6’er to sleep on for those warm evenings. Walk through transom makes it easy for boarding and disembarking stern-to the dock.
Powered by the ubiquitous Universal 4 cylinder diesel, the 34 motors at 6 knots between 1/2 - 3/4 gallons an hour.
The owner of this boat is an electrical engineer and redesigned the 12 V power supply increasing the battery bank and efficiency of the start battery. Combined with the professionally made electrical panel, it’s a noticeable improvement.
The Catalina designed Wing keel allows for uncrowded shallow water anchorages and mooring closer to the marina gate.
Overall, the Catalina 34 is a strong contender as a “starter boat” and when it’s time to move up in length, there is always someone looking for a Catalina as they hold their value pretty well.
Please give Jack a call to arrange for a personal showing of this boat.
