Description
Designed to be sailed by two people at racing speeds without sacrificing on-deck cruising comfort or shorthanded sailing systems, the J/130 is a moderate displacement design born of modern materials of exceptional strength and durability. She has: 1) A very low center of gravity to achieve a high righting moment for good windward performance without crew on the rail, 2) A long waterline length to beam ratio for superb directional stability and safe tracking in large offshore seas, and 3) A generous sail area to wetted surface ratio for light air performance.
Mazu is extensively outfitted for both racing and long distance cruising, with a host of amenities including solar power integrated on board systems with top end instrumentation, along with must haves for passage making such as refrigeration, diesel heater, LPG Force 10 stove and additional hot water heater/tankage. She has a nice set of communications and navigation electronics, along with a complete (racing and cruising) set of easy to control sails makes her a dream to sail.
Perfect for short handed or crewed passage making or racing, Mazu comes complete with a Viking 8 person life raft, emergency tiller, and 2018 10 ft. Zodiac RIB. And she has been beautifully maintained, featuring thoughtful appointments throughout such as cherry woodwork, rounded out with a new teak and holly sole, cushions, Gori 3 blade folding prop and bottom paint – all in 2023.
The outstanding directional stability, and excellent performance characteristics in both light and heavy airs of the J/130, coupled with Mazu’s carefully considered appointments and upgrades makes her an ideal cruising and long distance platform, for west coast adventures and beyond.
