OYSTER 45 SUNSHINE REGGAE - NEW LISTING
BROKER’S COMMENTS
Sunshine Reggae is a 1996 Oyster 45, a Holman & Pye design that blends ocean-going strength with practical cruising comfort. It’s built to Lloyd’s approved standards, with a hand-laid GRP hull, high-performance bulb keel, and fully protected skeg-hung rudder, making it a very capable and forgiving bluewater yacht. At just under 14m, it’s large enough for serious passages while still manageable for a couple or short-handed sailing. The sloop rig with a fully battened mainsail and Harken furling headsail offers an efficient and easy-to-handle sail plan, with many key systems recently upgraded including a 2020 electric windlass, 2024 lazy bag, and new batteries and bow thruster in 2024.
One of the yacht’s great features is its classic Oyster deck saloon layout, which gives a light, sheltered interior while maintaining offshore practicality. The American light oak joinery creates a warm, traditional feel, while the saloon’s large windows and practical sea berths make it comfortable both at anchor and on passage. The accommodation offers six berths across three cabins, including a generous aft owner’s stateroom with en suite, a forward double, and a twin cabin, making it versatile for family cruising. The galley is well-appointed with Force 10 cooker, keel-cooled refrigeration, and plenty of stowage, while the dedicated workshop aft of the nav station is a bonus for extended cruising. Systems such as Webasto central heating and a comprehensive Raymarine navigation package, including AIS and radar, add to its appeal for extended cruising in varied climates.
Sunshine Reggae is in the process of being updated, but offers a great combination of Oyster’s proven offshore pedigree, a robust and practical layout. It’s a classic mid-size Oyster that offers both security at sea and the comfort needed for long-term liveaboard sailing.
