The condition or level of safety equipment on board is not to be negotiated on following survey. It is likely to be listed by most surveyors but is not structural or an integral working part of the vessel and is not to be used to further negotiate the price down after survey. We strongly suggest that for your own personal safety that when purchasing a yacht you provide new safety equipment rather than relying on second hand gear.

Should you become the new owner of this yacht then the responsibility to re-register or update official bodies for items such as EPIRB, VHF, MMSI or AIS becomes yours.

VAT/Tax Note:

The French Customs/Douanes service which was in charge of yacht registration does not exist anymore. They stopped their activity 3 years ago in 2022/2021. Since that, all French Maritim affairs regarding ships registration, navigation licence, sailing and buying are managed by the "Direction Départementale des Territoires et de la Mer (DDTM)".. There is one DDTM office in each French department. The one concerned by our transaction is the one located in Arcachon, department of Gironde handled this Flag Closure.

Whilst numerous references to VAT/TVA being paid are on various documents which satisfied the French Authorities there is no actual copy of a VAT paid invoice.   To be on the French Flag a private individual has to prove to the French Customs Authorities that they have proof ov TVA/VAT paid.  On this basis when a vessel is Closed formally on the French Flag and issued the 'Certificate par du Radiation' the Customs Authorities now the DDTM have to be satisfied that the vessel is considered TVA/VAT paid in the EU.

Comments

The Bavaria Ocean series are known for their stable and safe properties at sea, and are built to compete with, for example, Hallberg-Rassy and Najad.  Safe, seaworthy and proven design

Previous owners sailed the boat across the Atlantic and further through the Pacific to New Zealand – with an average speed of 6.45 knots.

Located in the water all year round – zinc anode is replaced and hull is cleaned regularly by divers at the marina. The Center cockpit and large aft deck provide both safety and space
