Accommodations
Welcome aboard !
Serena below decks has a spacious full height Saloon , 3 cabins with 6 sea berths plus a passage berth in the saloon all with lee cloths , 2 heads , galley , workshop/bosuns locker and engine room .
The cabin soles are all in a teak and holly style on ply boards , the interior joinery is finished in cherry wood with sculpted teak had rails and grabs where you'd expect to find them and custom s/s fittings for lockers , drawers and cupboards .
As you come down the varnished gritted companionway you enter the saloon with a beautifully varinished double leaf table as the centre piece . The saloon is light and airy with very good headroom . We 've had a dozen people in there without feeling cramped.
Starting with the fore peak the accommodation is laid out as follows :-
Forecabin . A double cabin laid in V with inset for making up a double . The cabin has a full sized hatch for ventilation and access to the foredeck . Berths have fans and reading lights . Storage in cupboard with full hanging rail and mirror on the door , drawers , lockers and side fiddle .
Bunk Room . Or as friends say , the guest dressing room . Double bunks with two opening hatches . Hanging locker with mirror on door , drawers and cupboards .
Day Head and shower . On the starboard side , opposite the bunk room , with Jabsco twist and lock lok ( new2022) , teak floor grating and sink , shower , mirror and cupboard space .This loo doesn't have a holding tank , the main cabin loo has a holding tank .
The Saloon . The saloon is spacious and very light with excellent ventilation from 2 forward opening windows , plus opening port windows in the hull which give great views when sitting plus additional ventilation. These windows must be only opened in port or anchor . The central table folds over to seat 8 - even though we have had a dozen round it . There is L shaped seating around the table with a further 2 seater opposite on the starboard side which doubles as a very useful passage berth when the trotter box side is opened . There are many cupboards and lockers under the seating areas . The battery box is situated under the sole by the bottom of the companionway steps . The other boards lift to provide access to fuel and water tanks and the bilge . Above the main seating area is a bookcase with air conditioning controls on the side panel .
Serena still has all of her original upholstery, headlining and port glazing which is all in good condition commensurate with her age . It's a testament to the quality of build that so much of the original fixtures and fittings are working and in good order - a common observation made by the people who have looked after Serena during our tenure .
Navigation desk . Situated on the starboard side at the rear of the saloon area. There is a chart table which fits admiralty charts with fiddle above ,bookcase to the side and alongside under the companionway the electrical boat panel behind a Perspex screen. The chart table lifts to provide lots of full chart sized storage . On a panel above the nav station is the gps, vhf , ais and central heating controls . Under are2 two port 12v usb charging points .
Bosuns locker/workshop . Behind the nav station is a door leading to the bosuns locker which also accessed from the cockpit . Shelving , hooks and a vice , single opening porthole , with a insulated full height door leading to the Engine room
Engine room .Fully sound insulated the engine room is lit with 2 led inspection lamps and houses a Volvo Penta D2-75 engine which was fitted and commissioned 2020/21. I replaced the old MD22 which we always felt was known to be a bit underpowered with the extra hp of the D2-75 . The Saildrive was also changed with a new unit and matched and fitted with a Brunton varifold propeller . We have 24 hours on the dial as the emu was replaced under warranty last year . We estimate total engine hours about 250. Additional access on the port side by a removal panel under the galley sink
Galley . On the port side with melomine worksurface , gimballed force 10 gas cooker , cupboards and lockers and a marvellous fridge with stainless steel door and new compressor in 2015.
The Main aft Cabin. This cabin is a spacious double berth and contains two essential items that persuaded us to buy Serena . First , the full sized double berth with sprung mattress and secondly the full sized ventilation and emergency hatch . The cabin has wonderful joinery detail , mirror , day seat and lots of lockers, drawers and cupboards. A very peaceful space when the boat is busy .
Ensuite heads and shower with teak grating floor , mirrored cupboard above the sink , shower and single opening portlight
