Description
The Hunter 420 was one of their most popular designs (and reportedly one of the best selling center cockpits sailboats EVER) and with two spacious staterooms, an ENORMOUS salon, a very functional galley area and two full heads both with VacuFlush toilets it's easy to see why! And the fun continues top sides as well with a roomy cockpit with seating for eight (and a "back porch" aft of that with room for at least another four!), both sails are furling with all lines lead aft for easy short-handed sailing, and there are a plethora of hatches, ports and skylights bringing plenty of light and air down below.
This particular low time (less than a thousand hours clocked) example shows real nicely and is VERY competitively priced--she's THE keenest priced 420 on the market, and this reflects owner's motivation not condition!
Also note she's lying in a potentially transferable downtown Sausalito slip (in one of the best slips in the marina here, actually) and will make an ideal Sausalito pied-a-terre, all in all a great turn-key package...
Accommodations and Layout
Forepeak head with shower, step aft to forward stateroom with Pullman style offset double berth, built in seat, and pass thru to salon. Up a half step aft to salon with short settee port si and BIG J shaped settee with drop-down table starboard.
Continue aft to J shaped galley port side, centerline companionway up to cockpit and HUGE nav station starboard from which down companionway aft to master stateroom with centerline walk around queen berth, ample storage, and en suite head with shower.
Note light and airy interior with 6'5 headroom throughout most of the boat including staterooms, salon has beautiful bone white leather seating in excellent shape..
Galley
Nice functional galley with Corian countertops, twin stainless steel deep sinks with hot/cold pressure water (11 gal. hot water heater, AC and engine fired) and one-touch faucet, gimballed Force 10 three burner propane stove with oven, built in Sharp Carousel microwave oven, 12V refridgeration with separate ice box (top AND front loading) and freezer both with heavy duty hydraulic hatch holdups. Vacuflush toilets in both heads.
Electronics
Garmin 3210 GPS chartplotter, Garmin 3210 radar, Raymarine ST6000 autopilot, Autohelm ST-50 depth sounder, Apelco VHF radio, binnacle mounted Ritchie magnetic compass at helm. West Marine AM/FM/MP3 stereo.
Electrical
110V AC / 12V DC. Thirty amp shorepower service, two 4D lead acid batteries and single 8D maintenance free battery in two separate banks, inverter/charger, high output alternator on the Yanmar engine.
Sails and Rigging
Aluminum deck stepped mast with compression post, twin swept back spreaders with Hunter's trademark B&R rig, Selden in-mast furling main, aluminum boom with Harken mainheet/traveller on FRP arch over cockpit, rigid boomvang, all lines lead aft thru eight rope clutches. 115% jib on ProFurl rollerfurler, two Lewmar #48 self tailing winches, two Lewmar #44 self tailing winches.
Deck and Hull
Hand laid FRP hull with cored decks, external fin keel with bulb, spade rudder and deck-stepped mast with compression post. Nice heavy duty dodger, sugar-scoop transom with swim ladder and much storage. Stainless steel stanchions with double lifelines, stainless steel bow and stern pulpits.
Dual offset anchor rollers with Lewmar electric windlass, Rocna plough anchor and ample chain/line rode.
Engine and Mechanical
Four cylinder fresh water cooled Yanmar 4JH2-TE disel with 1 1/4" stainless steel shaft thru PSS dripless packing glad to bronze two bladed prop.
