Additional Information

The Caliber 40LRC is a robust, bluewater cruiser engineered for exceptional performance, safety, and comfort in demanding offshore conditions. Its modified fin keel and skeg-hung rudder deliver responsive handling and superior directional stability, even in heavy seas. With a high ballast-to-displacement ratio and substantial displacement for its size, the 40LRC remains steady and secure in rough waters. This robust construction instills confidence in every voyage.

Safety is paramount in the 40LRC’s design. Reinforced fiberglass at critical impact points, a watertight collision pocket, and a rudder post dam minimize flooding risks in case of a collision. The rudder assembly, a vulnerable component on any vessel, is fortified with a solid 1.5-inch stainless steel shaft and a Triple-Support Rudder System with three bearings—one housed internally to reduce corrosion and ease maintenance. The structural skeg further protects the rudder from grounding damage.

The Quad-Seal Deck to Hull System exemplifies Caliber’s meticulous craftsmanship. This four-step process—using polyurethane adhesive, co-polymer sealant, a thru-bolted aluminum toe-rail, and a stainless steel striker—creates a watertight, exceptionally strong hull-to-deck joint that resists moisture and protects against dockside impacts. The integrated keel, tanks, and sub-sole form a unified hull structure, eliminating external keel bolts, enhancing strength, and providing a double-bottom effect to prevent flooding if the hull is breached. A deep bilge keeps water away from lockers when heeled, and sealed ballast within the keel adds an extra layer of safety.
