MAINTENANCE & REFIT HISTORY

Over the years, SY Ithaka has undergone a consistent and professional maintenance program ensuring mechanical reliability, safety, and long-term seaworthiness. Since 2016, the yacht benefited from several refits and service cycles addressing propulsion, hull, hydraulics, and onboard systems.

Hull, Paint & Structure:
- 2016: Hull, superstructure, mast, and boom repainted with Awlgrip high gloss (Majestic Blue hull, Off-white topsides).
- 2021: Underwater hull recoated with International Trilux self-polishing antifouling (black).
- 2018: Fuel and day tanks opened, inspected, and cleaned.
- 2023: Corrosion protection rechecked during mechanical service.

- 2025: hull and topsides polished

Propulsion & Gearbox:
Main Engine (Scania D9, 257 HP):
  - 2017 & 2019: Heat exchanger and seawater pump serviced.
  - 2020: Raw water pump serviced, seal replaced.
  - 2021: Alternators overhauled; bearings and brushes renewed.
  - 2023: Major overhaul by Waterline Palma — turbo, cooling system, and injectors serviced.

  - 2025 general service on main engine

Gearbox (Twin Disc):
  - 2017 & 2019: Heat exchangers cleaned and pressure tested.
  - 2019: Gearbox rebuilt.
  - 2023: Oil and zincs replaced

  - 2025: general service

Propeller Shaft:
  - 2019: Shaft removed, checked, and fitted with new cutlass bearings and seals.

Generators:
Main generator 27 kW Kohler:
  - 2019–2023: Injectors, sensors, and heat exchangers serviced; major service in 2023 including new raw water pump and belts.

  - 2025 general service
Auxiliary generator 11.5 kW Kohler:
  - 2019–2023: Raw water pump replaced, full general service including filters, coolant pump, and thermostats.
  - 2025: general service

Hydraulics & Thrusters:
- 2021: Hydraulic oil and filters replaced; anchor winch serviced with a new motor.
- Bow & Stern Thrusters: Hydromar retractable units serviced and fully operational.

HVAC & Plumbing:
- Air Conditioning: Annual maintenance; 2013 condenser descaling and system overhaul.
- Watermaker (HEM 25-1200): Membranes and pumps serviced in 2018–2023; full valve and seal renewal in 2023.
- Hamann Sewage System: 2023 complete workshop service with new seals, bearings, and chlorine mechanism.

Rig & Deck Gear:
- 2021: Mast unstepped, rigging renewed, tuned, and serviced.
- 2019: MPS halyard replaced.
- Winches: Annually serviced with sacrificial parts replaced.

Electrical & Batteries:
- 2017: Service battery bank (24V/1500Ah) replaced.
- 2020–2023: Starter batteries for generators and main engine replaced.
- 2023: Monitoring system updated, PLC battery and chargers renewed.

Safety & Fire Systems:
- 2021: Fire extinguishers serviced; new Fire Pro system installed.
- 2023: Safety systems tested and certified; life rafts and EPIRB renewed.

Interior & Deckhouse:
- 2023: Deckhouse hydraulic windows serviced, bathroom ventilations replaced, monitoring system updated.

Tender & Toys:
- Novurama 4.2 m Tender (Yamaha 50 HP):
  - 2023/2026: Full service with oil, filters, impeller, zincs, and timing belt replacement.

REFIT 2025 (STP SHIPYARD - PALMA DE MALLORCA):

Hull & Antifouling:
- Hull sanded and coated with Primocon primer + two layers of Trilux 33 antifouling.
- Full polishing and polymer coating from hull.
- Corrosion around anchor plate, pilothouse, and tender bay repaired and repainted.

Propulsion & Underwater Gear:
- Shaft, propeller, and rudder removed, cleaned, and fitted with new bearings, seals, and Propspeed.
- All zinc anodes replaced.
- Sea chest and valves cleaned, repaired, and refitted.
- Both bow and stern thrusters dismantled and serviced.

Systems & Machinery:
- Air-conditioning condensers repaired and repainted; new seawater pump installed.
- Hamann blackwater plant fully serviced.
- Main engine and generator serviced; cooling pump leak fixed, heat exchanger pressure-tested.

Deck & Interior:
- Garage steps repaired and realigned.
- Anchor, chain and chain locker cleaned and inspected.
- Pilothouse Water leak investigated and repaired.

SY Ithaka underwent a thorough refit addressing both preventive maintenance and long-term corrosion prevention. The hull, propulsion, and onboard systems are now in full serviceable condition, pending the final thruster parts delivery and launch tests.
This refit notably improved mechanical reliability, hull integrity, and interior waterproofing, ensuring operational readiness for the sailing season.

Tank is installed forward amidships under galley for ideal ships trim. Vent by mast at 5 m. above deck + saltwater shower tank cleaning system. In 2011 tank sandblasted + new inner coating. Each year emptied, opened and cleaned by professional company each year.

Two compressor reverse cycle system containing: Hot/ Cold water circulation system with individual Climma Vega MKII digital

thermostat-controlled accommodation fan coils. Hot water circulation by boiler. 

System calculated that at an outside temp of + 37° C an inside temp. of + 22° C can be achieved, at seawater temp. of + 28° C.

SEWAGE SYSTEM

One Sterling Fluid 400V electric heavy-duty bilge pump, manual and electrical controlled by monitoring screen in wheelhouse and

crew messroom. Alarm panel in captain cabin. One Steimel heavy-duty pump driven by main engine. Manifold for bilge

compartments, direct overboard/ grey water tank discharge/ exchangeable by-pass back-up system with deckwash/ firefighting

pump. 

DECKWASH SYSTEM  

Freshwater tap point at SB deck filling station. Deck wash hose. 

FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM 

1 x saltwater tap at Port deck filling station. 

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Professional electrical installation built by Doctronics (Multibridge) and Jongert. 

Monitoring of electrical system by touch screens at doghouse steering, outside steering and messroom. AC and DC main switch panels including automatic circuit-breakers and control lamps in engine room. Earth failure alarm on monitoring screens. 

Voltage/ Ampere/ meters and low voltage alarm, charge and discharge display by PC management system. 

230V + 1 x 24V recepticals. Automatic shore/generator supply take over. 

One generator running for approx. 4 hr is sufficient for 24 hr of electric power and silent ship condition in easy /sail mode. 

11.5 Kw (silent) generator suits for when under sail or in anchor mode incl. airco / fridges, cooking. 

Automatic generator activation by energy management system.
