Description
Maxi Yachts is a highly regarded Swedish brand founded by Pelle Petterson, renowned for building high-quality, seaworthy cruising sailboats with strong performance and easy handling for couples. With over 16,000 Maxis built, the brand enjoys an excellent reputation. The Maxi 1300 is a true sailor’s yacht, offering sparkling performance while remaining a superb family cruiser. On deck she features twin wheels and an easily managed sail plan with all lines led aft. Uniquely, OWL is equipped with powered sail handling, including electric furling to both the mainsail and genoa, making her ideal for short- or single-handed sailing. OWL is well equipped for coastal and extended cruising, with a comprehensive suite of Raymarine instruments, good sail wardrobe, generator and removable davits. Below deck, the 1300 offers three comfortable double cabins, two WC compartments, a practical linear galley and a forward-facing navigation area, sleeping up to seven.
Construction
RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean” (or Cat B – whichever is appropriate)
Hull Construction:
- Hull produced by vacuum assisted infusion, with outer skin from Vinylester and remaining laminate in iso-polyester.
- White gelcoat topsides.
- Sandwich laminate made of 20mm PVC core is used throughout the hull.
- Reinforcement from a mix between woven and uni-directional roving.
- Solid laminate in the keel area as well as the laminate around major through hull fittings.
- Structural GRP reinforcing grid laminated to hull.
- White topcoat on the hull in all lockers, bilges, and similar exposed areas.
Deck Construction:
- White gelcoat.
- The deck is produced by vacuum assisted infusion with integrated anti slip surfaces.
- Sandwich laminate between ortho polyester, tri-axial and uni-directional roving and a 15mm PVC core in all horizontal surfaces.
- Deck is glued and bolted to hull.
- White topcoat in all exposed areas.
- Glove boxes in cockpit with teak frames.
- Cockpit laid with teak, teak toe rail.
Keel & Rudder:
- Iron cast fin bolted to a lead bulb.
- Keel is bolted with AISI 316 L stainless steel bolts.
- Balance spade rudder produced by vacuum assisted infusion. Reinforcement from bi-axial and uni-directional roving.
- Aluminium rudderstock and wings, acetal needle bearing top and bottom.

- Volvo D2-50 and 130S sail drive new 2019.

Description of layout from forwards:
- From forward there is a large double owner’s cabin with a forward-facing V berth with aft end infill and en-suite owners heads to starboard with a shower stall.
- The main saloon is very light and airy.
- There is U shaped seating to starboard with a sliding bench amid ships. The saloon table drops on a gas strut and with infill forms a large additional double berth.
- The galley runs along the saloon to port and the chart table is to starboard in front of the companionway steps and the aft/day heads to port.
- The companionway overhead sliding washboard is tinted acrylic and there is a folding teak door.
- The starboard aft cabin is a single that folds out to a double with infill and has a folding upper bunk.
