1. CONSTRUCTION 

HULL NUMBER

 Oyster 72.08.

HULL CONSTRUCTION

 The GRP hull incorporates a composite High Modulus Carbon Kevlar (HMCK) system. This is a ‘balanced laminate’ that has been designed to give excellent structural properties between the laminate layers. Advantages over standard GRP include weight savings, extra strength and stiffness.

The hull is reinforced with a matrix of structural stringers and floors and specially engineered by High Modulus.

 

HULL FINISH

 White hull with cove line and double boot top lines in black.

Boot top lines and cove line, repainted in black 2020. 

Superstructure polished, 2023. 

Hull lightly blasted, sanded, and faired with epoxy to below water line, except keel as coatings appeared sound, 2020. Two coats of International Micron 77, 2020. 

Re-antifouled, one coat, spec as above, 2023. 

Hull anode, new 2023. 

 

DECK CONSTRUCTION

Deck constructed with balsa cored vinylester resin system.

 

DECK FINISH

Teak laid decks, with vacuum epoxy bond and 10mm teak, new 2020. 

Deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which facilitates relatively flat side decks. Top of bulwark has a clean GRP finish, giving a modern and stylish ‘rolled’ edge. GRP finish throughout sanded and repaired with laminate/gelcoat, as appropriate, new 2020. 

Coachroof repainted with non-skid, 2023.

All locker hinges and catches are recessed into the teak planking, where appropriate.

 

KEEL

High-performance bulb (HPB) external lead keel.

Keel bolts tightened to recommended torque settings, 2021.

 

RUDDER

Fully protected skeg-hung rudder.

 

STERN DESIGN

‘Sugar scoop’ stern design with bathing platform trimmed with teak slats, and moulded GRP steps with teak treads incorporated into the transom for access to the stern deck.

 

EURCD

Built to comply with the requirements for Category A – Ocean.

 

CHARTER CODING

Built to MCA Category II with all associated safety equipment fitted.

2. DECK LAYOUT AND EQUIPMENT 

ANCHOR

50kg (105lb) CQR anchor with 100m of 14mm calibrated, galvanized chain.

30kg Spade anchor with 10m x 10mm chain and 100m of 18mm warp. Warp with eyes in both ends as MCA tow line. (MCA requirement).

Anchor and chain stowage in forward sail locker on aft bulkhead to starboard.

 

WINDLASS

Lewmar Commander 400-3 (24V) vertical gypsy/drum type hydraulic anchor windlass. Two-way and operated on deck by adjacent foot switches.

 

DECK ACCESS

Midship gateway stanchions with stainless steel hinged boarding ladders, which close up to form the side-gates.

Stainless steel tread plates to port and starboard gateways engraved with boat name/model.

Gate to pushpit.

Stainless steel bathing ladder.

Multiplex 3.2m carbon fibre passerelle with stanchions, spreader bar and stowage bag. Passerelle socket on top step of transom rung.

CANVASWORK

Large custom fold-down companionway sprayhood fitted over stainless steel hoops, with zip-up window panel in its forward portion.

Bimini - split to allow main cockpit to be covered whilst helm is uncovered. Boom light window.

Padded cockpit table cover with velcro access flaps to cool box, with stowage pocket on end. Covers for pedestals and steering wheels.

Cockpit, helm and pushpit seat cushions in EZ-Dri foam. Helm and pushpit seat backrests.

DECK PLUMBING

Hot and cold freshwater deck shower in transom step locker.

High capacity freshwater anchor/deck wash in anchor locker.

 

COCKPIT

The cockpit is split into separate steering and guest/crew areas. The aft cockpit has a clear central walkway through between twin wheels, giving excellent access from the main companionway to either the helm positions, or to the aft deck. The cockpit is self-draining.

Twin custom GRP lectern style cockpit pedestals incorporate the controls and instruments, with a Kobelt electro-mechanical single lever engine control on the inboard side of the port pedestal. Instruments are set into a custom panel.

Pair of waterproof loudspeakers plus two additional speakers inside recessed moulding.

Port side helm seat includes a rope tail locker for the mainsheet with hinged lid, and both helm stations have a curved stainless steel tubular backrest with permanent vinyl covered cushioning.

Teak decking either side of main companionway.

Stainless steel drinks holders in front of steering pedestals, to backrests of cockpit seating.

 

COCKPIT TABLE

Gloss varnished teak-topped cockpit table with fold-down leaves, permanently installed in a robust stainless steel frame incorporating fore and aft foot bars that provide useful support for crew when the yacht is heeled. Additional leaves to make a full-size table with eight leaves. Hinged lids give access to an insulated GRP cool box, refrigerated via a Frigomatic 24V (keel-cooled) refrigeration unit.

 

STEERING

Twin remote custom GRP lectern-style steering pedestals, each incorporating a carbon wheel.

Steering wheels covered in leather, which extends to partially cover the spokes.

OUTBOARD BRACKET

Single carbon spinnaker pole stowed vertically on mast. Package includes, chainplates, deck fittings, halyard, topping lift, pole lift, single sheet, guy, fore guy and all required blocks.

4. INTERIOR

GENERAL

Ten berths in five cabins, excluding the saloon. All berths are sea berths and have Dacron lee screens fitted with lanyards to through-bolted eyes. Double berths have split mattresses allowing for a central lee cloth. 

Interior joinery finished in quarter sawn light ‘honey’ teak. 

Cabin soles in teak V-groove planking.

Essential features include sculpted fiddles and grab rails, ‘shadow-gap’ joints between joinery panels, solid grab handles, and solid framed styled doors with inlaid border.

Oyster custom knobs for lockers and drawers.

All drawers use metal runners with a soft-close feature for smooth operation. 

Lockers have flush catches, and are fitted with shelves and fiddles, as appropriate. Hanging lockers are lined with cedar wood ply panels.

Custom shelving and additional storage, 2023. 

Acrylic horizontal galley worktops in ‘black’ Avonite with fiddles, upstand surrounds and basin inserts.

Four head compartments, each fitted out with a high-quality moulded white washbasin set into a ‘black’ Avonite work surface. Vola quality mixer taps and thermostatic shower controls are installed, together with matching towel rail, toothbrush cup holder, soap dish and toilet roll holder.

PAR QuietFlush electric freshwater toilets fitted in three heads with large porcelain bowls. Port forward ITT Jabsco manual toilet. Emergency seawater changeover and non-return valve to port aft toilet.

Headlining in off-white vinyl, which is also used to cover the deck saloon sides. 

Upholstery in Bridge of Weir leather in colour ‘Birch’.

Upholstered headboards to double berths. Berth sides have upholstered panels, where appropriate. Mattress covers fitted with a zippered side opening and rot-resistant vinyl on underside, enveloping a high quality composite foam mattress profiled for ventilation.

Crew covers.

Blind system to windows in all cabins. 

Oceanair Skysol pleated blinds to hullports.

Oceanair Skyscreen blinds with integral mosquito mesh to all deck hatches.

FORWARD SAIL LOCKER

Mast box fitted out with locker for larder stowage. Access to deck is achieved via a central overhead hatch and stainless steel steps.

WATER FILTER

Seagull water purifying filter with own faucet at galley sink, new 2023. 

 

COOKER/HOB

Gimballed stainless steel Force 10 cooker with four-burners, oven, and grill, all protected by a flame failure gas cut-off device. The cooker incorporates an electronic ignition system for all functions.

Heavy-gauge fiddle rail fitted around top of cooker, which incorporates a pair of adjustable clamping pan holders. Harbour lock and cooker crash bar fitted. For additional safety an electric gas solenoid valve controls the gas flow from the bottle and is operated remotely by a neon switch near the cooker.

Cooker hood (extractor fan, part of forced air extraction system) in stainless steel complete with light and multi-speed fan control. 

 

MICROWAVE/GRILL

Panasonic stainless steel integrated combination (900W) microwave oven and grill.

 

REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER

Frigomatic 24V (keel-cooled) refrigeration system to cool the front opening refrigerator, with stainless steel door, shelves and automatic door light.

Keel cooler anodes, 4 in total, new 2023.  

Frigomatic 24V (water-cooled) W50 twin compressor refrigeration system, with twin plate to cool top opening freezer box, configured to run as a refrigerator or freezer. Small stainless steel support strut fitted to lid and baskets for stowage.

 

WASHER/DRYER

Samsung washer/dryer.

 

SALOON

Access to the saloon from the cockpit is via a set of timber and stainless steel  companionway steps with two oval stainless steel handrails either side of the opening, extending down both sides.

The saloon is extremely bright and airy with seven windows, of which two of the three forward ones open to provide fresh air ventilation. In addition, there are two opening hull ports.

Featuring a large U-shaped settee to port, and a shorter settee to starboard, with stowage beneath seat bases.

Outboard of the starboard settee there is a central shelf to the hull port area, customised to house the flat screen TV on a motorised lift.

Central to the large settee is an extendible saloon table that is designed to form, in its closed position, an occasional table, which is mounted on a very substantial pedestal. The tabletop is a veneered panel with solid timber edging. This table opens to form a large dining table.

Two folding alloy framed director’s chairs with special stowage provision under the saloon settee, provide extra in-harbour seating at the table or even on deck.

NAVIGATION AREA

Located at the aft starboard end of the saloon the navigation area has a forward facing chart table with seat.

Customised around the strategically sited electronics and navigational equipment, which is strategically sited and mounted in a teak facia panel, hinged for easy access to equipment and wiring behind.

The chart table has a small support stay fitted to the opening lid, and can accommodate half-folded (full-size) Admiralty charts.

Bookshelf for navigational books and almanacs.

AC and DC electrical panels located behind navigator’s seat.

Oilskin hanging locker built into the aft end of the navigation area.

 

ENGINE ROOM

Built of Barrifloor sound insulating plywood, the entire area is insulated with a foam and barrier insulation. 

Access is via a hinged hatch in the saloon sole. Two further large hatches open to provide main access to the generator, auxiliary engine and pump installations. A smaller central hatch forward opens to give easy ‘crawl-in’ access to the engine space for quick daily safety inspections. Access hatches in the deck saloon sole are fitted with rubber sealing strips to minimise noise, supported by gas struts when open.

24V lighting and Jabsco fans can be operated from the DC electrical panel.

An automatic fire extinguisher is installed.

Bearers and bilge underneath engine repaired and re-painted, 2020.

 

STARBOARD AFT TWIN CABIN

Situated aft of the saloon/navigation area to starboard with two single upper and lower berths. Stowage below the lower berth, hanging locker, and a bedside locker. Locker on aft bulkhead over top of upper berth. 

 

PORT AFT HEAD/SHOWER 

Incorporating a toilet, washbasin, and separate shower stall with toughened glass door and teak grating floor.

Mirrored upper storage locker, plus lockers for wash bag and towel storage.

Extractor fan.

PORT AFT GUEST CABIN

Guest cabin to port with double berth and stowage beneath. Hanging locker, drawer and locker space. Shelf outboard.

Last serviced May 2025 with port Racor filter and oil changed. 

Twin Racor engine filter. 

Aquadrive and thrust bearing units, completely overhauled, 2021. 

Gear box drive plate removed and crank seal replaced, 2021. 

Gearbox inspected and serviced, 2020. 

 

ENGINE HOURS

Approximately 1,432 at June 2025.

 

PROPELLER

Bruntons Varifold 4-bladed propeller. 

Stripped down, serviced, with 4 new blade buffers and rope cutter bearings, 2021.

ALTERNATORS

The engine is fitted with twin alternators:

40A/12V alternator for engine start battery charging.

Mastervolt 150A/24V high output heavy-duty alternator for domestic battery charging, controlled by a Mastervolt Alpha Pro regulator.

Alternator, new 2023.

The generator starting battery is charged by its own 12V alternator.

 

GENERATOR

 Onan 22.5kW (220V/50Hz) 4-cylinder diesel generator. 12V DC dedicated start battery, charged by its own alternator. 

Generator serviced to include all salt water hoses, water pump, heat exchanger, coolers, oils, filters and injector service, 2021. 

Last serviced May 2025 with main alternator belt, racor filter, and oil changed. 

Generator fuel pump, new 2023.

BOW THRUSTER

Electric Sleipner 285 (20hp) 300mm tunnel bow thruster installed in the forepeak with twin counter-rotating propellers to facilitate easy manoeuvring in tight harbours and marinas, and dedicated battery. Bow thruster joystick controls at pedestal. 

Props re-painted, with new anodes installed, 2023. 

 

STEERING SYSTEM

Whitlock Mamba torque rod and linkage system.

 

HYDRAULICS

Lewmar Commander 400-3 system located in sail locker to operate windlass and mainsail furling.

 

AIR CONDITIONING

220V Cruisair air conditioning system, comprising of:

2 x 16,000 BTU Stowaway self-contained units in saloon.

1 x 12,000 BTU units in owner’s stateroom.

1 x 12,000 BTU Stowaway self-contained unit in galley.

1 x 12,000 BTU Stowaway unit in starboard forward cabin, with split ducting to port forward cabin.

1 x 8,000 BTU unit in port aft cabin.

1 x 4,000 BTU unit in starboard aft cabin.

Giving a total of 80,000 BTUs.

HEATING

Eberspacher Hydronic 16 heater system comprising outlet grills as follows:

FORCED AIR VENTILATION SYSTEM

All cabins and heads ventilated by forced air extraction system to provide constant air circulation. Fan speeds adjustable.

Fresh air is passively drawn in via deck conduits.

Blanking panels for the forced air system inlets at the cockpit and foredeck, provide severe weather protection against flooding into the ventilation ducts (MCA recommendation for storm conditions).

 

ICE MAKER

U-Line SS95 ice maker.

 

WATERMAKER

220V Seafresh 208A watermaker giving 140 litres (approximately 30 Imp gallons / 36 US gallons per hour), complete with product gauge and remote panel. Automatic freshwater backflush with dedicated pump.

7. TANKAGE AND PLUMBING

FUEL

2,500 litres approximately (549 gallons/660 US gallons) in two GRP tanks.

Tanks cleaned, new O rings fitted to lids, and Racor primary filters changed, 2020. 

 

WATER

1,250 litres approximately (274 Imp gallons/330US gallons) in two GRP tanks.

Tanks cleaned and new O rings fitted to lids, 2020.

 

TANK TENDER GAUGES

4-way tank tender monitoring system linked to all tanks, enabling monitoring of fuel and water levels.

Backup calibrated dipsticks with calibration chart.

 

HOT WATER 

From two insulated approximately 73-litre (16 Imp gallons/19 US gallons) tanks heated by the engine’s heat exchanger, or by thermostatically-controlled 220V, 1.25kW immersion heater element powered by the generator or dockside power.

 

PRESSURISED HOT AND COLD WATER SYSTEM

Hot and cold freshwater system based on a high-capacity water pump with PEX/PBT pipework and fittings.

Accumulator tank and two pressure relief valves, new 2023. 

 

HOLDING TANKS 

Three plastic (Polypropylene) toilet holding tanks installed for each head and plumbed for gravity discharge, with additional ability to pump out from deck using a shore station.

Tanks fitted with Wema electric capacity gauges.

Black water tank hoses inspected, aft heads replaced as required, 2021. 

 

GREY WATER

Showers and washbasins discharge into three sump tanks, one forward and one aft, which then evacuate via a dedicated electric Whale ‘Gulper’ pump directly overboard.

The galley sink also empties via an electric Whale ‘Gulper’ pump.

These four pumps are each operated by Vimar rocker switches.

 

MANIFOLD SYSTEM

Stainless steel manifolds for seawater inlets to reduce through-hull fittings.

Inspection of underwater hull skin fittings and valves. Eight through-hull/valves fitted, new 2021. Both in-let manifolds removed for closer inspection, service and cleaning, with corroded valves and fittings replaced, 2021. Port main sea water inlet in engine room realigned with epoxy, 2021. 

8. ELECTRICS

 

SHIP’S SUPPLY 24V.

 

RING MAIN

220V AC ring main with double, 3-pin UK style outlet sockets located as appropriate within the layout.

Units are from the Vimar range with brushed chrome ‘Classica’ surrounds.

 

OTHER ELECTRICAL SOCKETS

24V waterproof socket in anchor locker for bow anchor light.

24V waterproof socket at steering pedestal for search light.

Double USB socket.

 

BATTERIES

Domestic: Bank of 4 heavy-duty, deep cycle Mastervolt gel batteries giving a total of 820Ah, new 2020.

Engine start: 1 x 12V Varta battery, new 2021. 

Generator start: 1 x 12V Varta battery, new 2021.
