Description
Salona 37 2008 - EU VAT Paid
Combines speed and performance with comfortable living space.
(Hull color – see comments below)
Located on south coast of Portugal. Ideal launching point for Mediterranean, Atlantic, and the Algarve coast.
The Salona 37 is a versatile cruiser that combines speed and performance with comfortable living. A true racer sailboat known for its excellent performance, spacious interior and award-winning design.
The 37 feet model was built between 2006 and 2011 by AD Boats in Croatia. All Salona models have been reinforced with stainless steel frame structure (the grid forms the structural spine of the boat) which supports the keel, mast and shrouds, giving the boats an extremely strong but light construction. A construction well known also on X-Yacht sailboats. The rudder compartment is separated from the rest of the boat with a watertight bulkhead as an extra safety measurement to isolate a potential water intrusion.
This version of the Salona 37 is the medium draft version (2 meters) and offers a compromise between draft and performance. It was awarded the Yacht of the Year both in in Europe and the USA in 2007 and recognized as the Croatian Boat of the Year in 2006, highlighting its design and performance excellence.
The execution of this Salona 37 version consists of 2 cabins and 1 head. The interior is classic and functional, both out at sea and in port. To the port side is a practical L-shaped galley, with plenty of storage, stove, oven and fridge box and on the starboard side, a navigation table also serving as the "onboard office". On the aft port side is the guest cabin with a double bed and on the starboard aft side, the head with a toilet and a shower. The spacious saloon has 2 comfortable sofas on each side, which also provide berths for two, and a flap table. The master cabin has a well-sized double bed and is situated in the forward part of the boat.
The cockpit is very spacious with long benches and has a locker big enough for storing the dinghy and outboard engine. The boom/Mainsheet is handled in front of the steering wheel. The aft bench behind the steering wheel can be unscrewed to make the stern open and sportier. As a performance upgrade, this Salona 37 has been fitted with a removable bowsprit which supports a gennaker and a code-0. Especially the code-0 gives a massive speed boost in light winds.
The hull of the boat was painted by one of previous owners and has become very pale over the years. The look of the hull does not represent the otherwise top maintained and shiny look of the rest of the boat. If the new owner wants the boat to look as new again, a new Awlgrip paint by professionals is estimated to appr. 5500 Euros, or alternatively foil can be done for significant lower cost.
The name of the boat is S/Y Sobat Kras and is a Malayan expression for “close friend”. The current owner is Danish and the third owner of the boat. The boat is registered in Denmark (EU).
The first owner (Dutch) bought her for a combination of racing and cruising 2008. Since 2016 the boat has not done any racing.
The second owner, an elderly Dutch couple, bought S/Y Sobat Kras in 2016 for cruising in the Netherlands. As a first thing, they had the underwater hull completely reworked with full sanding, epoxy primers and copper coat. They sold the boat to the current owner in the autumn 2020 due to health issues and the boat was sailed from the Netherlands to Denmark.
The current owner wanted a robust boat for the family, 2 adults and 2 children, for a six-month cruising from Denmark to the Mediterranean. With a background in racing and a love for fast sailing, they wanted something more than an ordinary “family cruiser”. The Salona 37 ticked all the boxes such as: Spacious inside for a family, lead keel, tall rig, steel frame, open cockpit, separate rudder compartment and importantly, very fast. After buying the boat, the bowsprit, gennaker and code-0 were added.
The first years the family sailed during summer holidays to Sweden, Norway and to Bornholm. And now they have completed the six-month family sailing adventure from Denmark over Biscay to Spain and the Balearic Islands. After 5 years including 6 months in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, it is time to pass the S/Y Sobat Kras on to a new owner with a passion for sailing.
With this Salona 37 and the S/Y Sobat Kras, you get a safe and true “close friend”, ready to take you out on new sailing adventures!
The boat was hauled out in Lagos October 2025, Engine serviced, Hull and propeller cleaned, anodes checked.
