Description
The Southerly 110 embodies the established features of the Southerly range, which have proved popular over many years. The modern hull and rig set very high standards of performance, versatility and sheer good looks which appeals to family and cruising yachtsmen alike. Her aft cockpit, plumb bow line and twin rudder configuration, combined with her sail plan, makes her a fast, fun and exhilarating yacht to sail. Whitlock direct steering, combined with the twin rudder arrangement gives instantly responsive steering, making helming this yacht a real pleasure. Even when the wind increases and gusts attempt to push her off course, the hull form and deep draft of the Swing Keel enables her to stand up to the wind and carry her canvas, whilst the twin rudders give exceptional directional stability and control. In fact, the Southerly 110 is so light on the helm she will sail herself most of the time. Single line mainsail reefing and a furling genoa make sail handling easy – ideal for family or short handed sailing. The tall fractional rig and self tacking jib (as Southerly 35RS rig) is a popular option, to enjoy your sailing with minimum effort. The self tacking jib means you can tack spontaneously, without effort, allowing you to sail in conditions that a conventional sail plan may not allow, such as in a harbour or congested area. The unique Swing Keel provides deep draft performance (deeper than most yachts), for powerful windward performance. At the 'touch of a button' the keel can be raised to just 2'4'' for shallow draft freedom, allowing you to sail in coastal areas and inland waters. As with all Southerlys, the yacht will also dry out and sit upright. As you board the Southerly 110, Northshore’s traditional quality of build shines through. Good all round views, a spacious saloon, open galley, raised chart table and large aft cabin are particular features on this yacht
Accommodations
Going down the companion way you first come to the raised galley, with plenty of work space and great visibility through the raised deck windows, cooker, 75l fridge and a good amount of storage. There’s more than enough here to make cooking on longer trips possible.
There’s an aft cabin that is huge, with a big double berth as well as wardrobes and a dressing table. The head is double doored with access from the cabin and the saloon area.
Down a couple steps and the saloon has L shaped seating to port and a slightly curved ‘bench seating’ to starboard. The saloon table can be extended to accommodate use of the starboard seating or kept as it for to comfortably sit 4/5 people on the port side- maybe 6 if you don’t mind being a little close!
The fore cabin can have an infill fitted to make it into a double on the lower berth with a single bunk above. Albeit not a huge space but perfectly comfortable for a couple of adults and a child above.
