Astus 20.5

Described by Astus Boats as their Coastal Cruiser, the 20.5 is rapidly becoming their most successful trimaran to date. No wonder. As a result of its  partnership with world renowned naval architects, VPLP, Astus Boats have come up with a real head turner. Huge floats with wave piercing hulls placed further apart and forward give the 20.5 a very contemporary look and a truly stable platform.  Blistering speeds can be achieved at a crew-friendly low angle of heel. Of course, with speed comes extended range. Previously out-of-reach destinations become a real possibility for day-trips or weekends thanks to a cabin for two featuring a long v-berth, plenty of storage and an off-set centre board for easy access.

Marleen was the first Astus 20.5 to arrive on British shores. Commisioned in September 2020 this boat was our demonstrator boat for nearly two years and, so, was sparingly used. Since then her subsequent owners have enjoyed her for the last few years. Mooring difficulties have forced a reluctant sale.

As a ex-demonstrator boat, ‘Marleen’ came well kitted out. She has her own braked road trailer, ‘Sports’ rig with square cut fully battened mainsail and furling jib as well as a furling gennaker on a retractable bow-sprit. The Sports equipment also includes a Ronstan main-sheet rail and carriage, 6:1  mainsheet blocks, carbon tiller with Ronstan Battlestick extension and gennaker winches. Reefing or sail management is made easy by the mainsail lazybag system and the jib is well protected by its own UV strip. The owners added a 6HP Suzuki 4-Stroke outboard engine with external tank in 2022 but they also have an ePopulsion Spirit 1.0 electric outboard, purchased in 2023 available as an alternative if preferred. For navigation Marleen has a NASA Clipper duet log/depth powered by its own battery. For comfort she comes with an opening coachroof hatch, cushions on the v-berth with infill, cushions with back supports on the cabin seats and LED interior lights. Mast raising is easy, even single handed, thanks to a clever, yet simple mast lifting kit. Marleen comes with everything to start sailing straight away, including an anchor, fenders and lines.
