HISTORY:

RELENTLESS is hull No. 74 of the Outremer 51 model with the last hull/deck tooling iteration having evolved from the Outremer 49 and pre-2018 versions of this model.   Construction was finished in August of 2020 in La Grande Motte, France.  Due to Covid travel restrictions the owners took virtual delivery and RELENTLESS was stored until May of 2021 when it was sailed to Genoa and shipped to Newport, RI by Seven Star Yacht Transport ship.  Summer was spent in New England then fall in Florida.  RELENTLESS stayed at Just Catamarans in Dania from November through February of 2022 and was fitted with air conditioning and other upgrades.  Spring of 2022 was spent in the Bahamas and summer found RELENTLESS back in New England.   As winter approached, RELENTLESS headed south to Charleston and then to the Caribbean storing at Grenada Marine during 2023 hurricane season.  January through May of 2024 RELENTLESS cruised the Grenadines and returned to storage at Grenada Marine until launching in January of 2026.

OWNER'S COMMENTS:

RELENTLESS has truly been a dream boat for us. We chose Outremer for its outstanding reputation, performance pedigree, and uncompromising build standards. Coming from a J80 race boat, we wanted a cruising catamaran that could truly sail—and Relentless has exceeded our expectations. She is easily handled by just the two of us in all conditions and consistently delivers fast, responsive sailing both upwind and downwind, often outpacing many other cruising boats, all from the comfort and protection of the helm.

When we purchased the boat, our priorities were performance, efficiency, simplicity, and safety—and Relentless delivers on all fronts.

For efficiency, in addition to the extra solar capacity we opted for the Integrel Generator system. This simple port-engine-mounted generator produces up to 5.5 kW while motoring and more than 6 kW when running at anchor. The system provides two major benefits: first, we eliminated propane entirely from the boat, improving safety; second, we never have to search for propane or deal with changing tanks and adaptors when cruising internationally. With our solar panels and typical short motoring in and out of anchorages, we can often go about a week before running the Integrel system to top up the batteries.

Safety and simplicity are core elements of the Outremer design. We further enhanced this with carbon fiber davits from the 5X model, which allow the dinghy to sit flat for easier access, improved drainage, and additional room for SUP storage. The davits also allow the solar panels to be mounted higher, significantly reducing shading from the boom and coachroof. We installed powerful Hella lighting under the davits, making the boat easy to spot in crowded anchorages at night and providing excellent lighting for boarding the dinghy or Relentless after dark.

The cockpit is fully enclosed and extremely secure, with nearly all sail handling managed from within the cockpit—making sailing both comfortable and safe in all conditions.

Beyond the boat itself, the Outremer community has been a wonderful part of the experience. There is an instant connection and respect when meeting other Outremer owners, and the owners’ group has been an incredible source of support and shared knowledge.

Reluctantly, we are offering RELENTLESS for sale due to family circumstances. We are confident she will bring her next owners the same sense of freedom, confidence, and adventure that she has brought us.

ACCOMODATIONS:

RELENTLESS is an “owner’s version” layout with three staterooms and two heads.  The interior is entered through a sliding glass door.   The salon is on the same level as the cockpit, making for a seamless transition from outside to inside.  Roll down insect netting with magnet closures allow the doors to stay open when the bugs are out.  The galley is along the aft bulkhead.  A large dining table and settee are forward to port and the forward-facing navigation station is to starboard.  The salon table lowers and infills for sleeping.

The port hull is dedicated to the owners.  A stateroom with queen-plus size berth is aft.  The head and separate shower stall are forward.  Closets and cabinets are midships in the passageway.  The starboard hull is for guests.  The forward stateroom has a lower double bunk and an upper, fold-away hanging bunk.  The head is inboard and forward of the companionway and a stall shower is aft of the companionway.  The aft stateroom has a large berth, dressing seat, and small closet.

All overhead spotlights are wall-switched.  Berths are fitted with flex-arm reading lights.  Overhead hatches have Oceanaire screens and blinds.  Hull side ports have blackout inserts.  Joinery is light European Oak.  Cabin soles are a darker “wenge” composite.  All furniture is foam cored to keep this performance catamaran light.   Countertops are white Corian with low fiddles.

DECK & HULL:

RELENTLESS has white gelcoat hulls with black antifouling and green over blue boot stripes.    The bottom received two coats of black Seahawk Islands 77 antifouling paint in January of 2026 at Grenada Marine.   Hull side graphics are in vinyl.   RELENTLESS’ inboard and outboard hull sides were completely wrapped at the shipyard before delivery.  In January of 2026 this wrap was removed by Grenada Marine and replaced with simple graphics, exposing hull gelcoat for the first time.  Reverse sheer bows, extended scoop sterns and flared hull sides are evidence of the last hull iteration of this model done in 2018.

The sterns have long swim platforms and are covered with faux teak Dekking.  A hot/cold shower is to port.  A stainless-steel swim ladder with teak treads folds out of a locker in the starboard platform.  Stainless steel grab rails are inboard and outboard.  Pivot sockets for the gangway are mounted in both sterns.

Decks are covered with light grey SeaDek EVA foam padding adhered atop the factory non-skid.   This padding is extremely comfortable under foot or knee and provides excellent traction when wet or dry.  GT3 Creative in Rhode Island installed these pads and maintains computer cut files for each pad.  New pads can be ordered in the event that any need replacing.   30” high double Dyneema lifelines run along each side deck between bow pulpit and stern railing.  There are midship’s boarding gates on each side.  Teak dolphin-watching seats are mounted on the pulpits.  A molded-in toe rail runs below the lifelines.    Deck hatches and opening ports are Lewmar.  Round Goiot escape hatches are mounted below hull companionway ladders on each side.

Deck accessible storage is voluminous.  Each bow has a climb into sail locker with stainless steel access ladder and LED lighting.   Line hanging bars run along the hull sides, just below the deck.  The sail locker bulkheads are watertight.  Crash boxes forward and low in each bow provide additional collision damage protection.   Just forward of the mast are two deck lockers housing the anchor chain, diesel tanks, and other gear.   The Plastimo liferaft is stored in a cradle located in the port/aft trampoline corner, making the raft accessible from above or below the trampoline.

The trampolines were replaced with new ATN 25mm silver Dyneema nets in January of 2026.   An optional carbon/composite longeron acts as a compression beam between the hull and forward cross beam, extending forward with attachment for flying sails.  A staysail chainplate is a few feet aft of the headstay.

The Outremer 51’s cockpit is down two steps from the side decks making a very secure space when offshore.  Seats wrap around the back.  These seats have storage lockers below.  3” thick seat cushions are held in place with bolt ropes.  Two tables are mounted on pedestals and can be lowered and infilled for lounging and sleeping.  The starboard side table is hinged and folds over to join the port and make one large table.   The tables are foam cored white laminate and trimmed with teak.  The entire back seat allows forward views through the cabin doors and windows, a nice feature when underway.  The cockpit sole is covered with faux teak Dek-king.   A removable teak grate covering a drainage channel is aft of the sliding glass door.  Storage lockers are also below the side deck/cockpit steps.

A fixed bimini with full canvas enclosure shelters the cockpit.  This factory installed canvas has clear roll-up windows and bug screens.  An additional set of mesh side and back panels was customs made for shade in the USA.   Solar panels and a rain catchment gutter are atop the bimini.  Eight recessed dimming spotlights and stereo speakers are below the bimini.

A custom two-person helm chair is to starboard.  This replaced the uncomfortable factory-provided fiberglass chair.   This fantastic chair has sculpted ergonomic cushions.  Folding arm rests, folding bolster and folding teak footrest allow easier passage through the helm area than the standard helm seat.   The bolster lets one lean when standing.   A stainless-steel helm bimini was recently fabricated in Grenada.  The frame is removable and can collapse to either side if contacted by the boom.  Under normal sailing conditions the boom clears the bimini top.  The grey yacht acrylic top canvas has an overhead sail viewing window and roll down back panel.

RELENTLESS’ hulls were wrapped in 3M vinyl at the shipyard.  This vinyl remained in place until January of 2026 when it was removed and the current vinyl hull side graphics installed at Grenada Marine.   The recently exposed hull side gelcoat is in excellent condition.

MECHANICAL & PLUMBING SYSTEMS:

When motoring on passage, one engine is used.  The seller reports consuming one gallon per hour at 2200 rpms and achieving 8 knots through the water.  The engine rooms are accessed through Lewmar deck hatches on the intermediate stern swim step.  The engine rooms are clean, corrosion, and odor free, LED lights are fitted for nighttime engine checks.  One can stand aft of the engines to access all necessary components and check fluid levels.  A watertight bulkhead separates these machinery spaces from the accommodation.

RELENTLESS has upgraded Forespar Marelon fiber reinforced plastic through hull valves, replacing the standard European alloy valves which have limited service life.  All valves, hoses, and systems are labelled.  Other pumps and systems are located in the bilge areas and below aft stateroom bunks.  Access is very good for all systems.  Sufficient spare parts and tools are included.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:

RELENTLESS has a high specification power generation and distribution system to minimize engine run time and weight.  The owner reports being able to sit for five days on battery power without running an engine to charge batteries.  Two large inverters provide 110V or 220V power to the all-electric galley and other loads.  There is no propane.  Batteries are charged by solar panels and the Integrel Power system.  This port engine mounted Integrel generator puts out over 5kw of 48V power, charging the (4) 25V 200ah service batteries very quickly.   48V to 12V DC to DC converters and an AGM buffer battery transition this stored energy for the non-inverter loads.   When docked, one can plug into either 110V/60hz or 220V/50 hz shorepower for worldwide capabilities.

In 2022, RC Marine of Portsmouth, RI went through the electrical system and rewired most of the high amperage DC wiring and many other components to vastly improve the electrical system over the standard Outremer installation.

SAILS & RIGGING:

RELENTLESS is fun to sail with a perfect blend of performance and handling such that a couple can easily reel off miles during offshore passages.  A carbon mast was selected for performance and fixed from rotation for simplicity.  A complete North Sails sail inventory, including 3Di main and jib, provide horsepower and longevity.  Four electric winches and top-quality Harken and Antal deck hardware handle the loads nicely.  Electric winch buttons are at foot level keeping both hands available for line handling.   Side racks on the boom, Doyle Stackpack, and lazy jacks manage the full-batten square head mainsail.   Weight is minimized with carbon bulkheads, carbon 5X davits, and optimized foam coring.  Tillers and mechanical steering send feedback to the helmsman vs. the standard hydraulic steering.
